Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Tucker is 14 weeks old and I find he is very grunty and snorty. He is not sick or anything....although I am certain he has allergies. He already had an allergic reaction to a "Brewers Yeast with garlic" tablet that I was giving him once a day which was my non medicinal way to deter fleas.Anyway he had swollen eyes and muzzle and I had to give him 12.5 mg benedryl.I also had to change his food because he was chewing his whole paw when on Iams large breed puppy which the breeder had him on.

Anyway....is this normal for a goldendoodle? His vet checks were perfectly fine...heart and lung sounds are normal.

Jo and Tucker too:)

I'm convinced that Stuart also has allergies - he sneezes all the time!  He likes to grunt and he also whines in his sleep, Rooney doesn't do anything.
If it were me I would switch food cautiously. Take the time to investigate ingredients and other things like that. You might be surprised. I do have some websites that I have found if you are intersted. They were provided to me by my breeder so I feel confident that the info is reliable.
The Food Group here on DK is excellent and has extensive research and recommended foods.  It also explains clearly about all the foods vets try to sell you and why you need to be armed with the correct information.
Thank You....I will take a look through the food group:)

I would love to see the websites.Thank You.

I have started him on Proplan chicken and rice puppy on the advice of a breeder of show dogs (they are golden retrievers). He swears by it.It is $67 dollars a bag here in nova scotia. Tucker is no longer chewing his paws and loves it.....so far so good.

Cooper (australian labradoodle) grunts and snots when shes excited - when we get home from work, playing with toys etc

My DH says the same thing about Tucker....he is thinking it is playing (getting excited) that gets him grunting and snorting....he very well may be right:)

As a puppy, Sedona started having more-than-typical problems with her ears.  The vet suggested it might be related to allergies.  After some experimentation, we discovered that she may have a problem with chicken.  We keep her away from chicken in her food and/or snacks, plus she gets 1000 mg. of fish oil each day.  Since then, she's done much better - not sure whether it was the chicken, the fish oil, or just coincidence, but who cares...
My co-worker who has golden retrievers does not give her dogs chicken either...she has one dog that has gastrointestinal issues when they have chicken. She actually makes their dog food in a slow cooker....Lucky dogs:)
Darwin sneezes, rubs and snorts very often... he does have itchy allergy problems.
My Chase sneezes when he gets excited!! It is just part of his character!!

Garlic is NOT GOOD FOR DOGS!   Please read the info in the DANGER GROUP    :)

Then, join us all in the Food Group   :)

Love your name BTW   :)
