Cooper needs help....

Cooper needs help naming her new playmate (Aunt I guess...). 

 

Many of you may have read in my previous blog that we went to the humane society the other day looking at some black lab mix puppies. They were all gone, but another dog spoke out to my MIL. We came home and did some research, and went back to the humane society today to let my FIL and Cooper meet the dog and see how they got on. It went great! The dog also saw a cat in there, and didnt pay any attention to it, so should get on fine with Merry Pippin and Legolas.

 

This dog is around 9 months old (and still very chewy apparently) and was a stray. She has been in the kennel since Sept 26th. What breed mix do you think she is? (humane society guess below the picture)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

According to the website Lady is a friendly 9 month old white Lab Akbash mix female.

(although her adoption papers say lab/kuvasz)

 

Lady needs a new name for when she comes home. She is getting spayed on Wednesday and will come home on Thursday.

Definitely lab mix.  She looks like my lab mix I think.  He was half Australian Shepherd.  I can't find any puppy pictures of him. :-(  He shed lots (like a lab) so we kept him 'shaved' a bit.  It helped with shedding tremendously.  Too bad I am not willing to shave Clancy for shedding purposes!!!  I love the suggested name Bianca or Blanca.  Or how about Opal?

Congratulations, she's a beauty.  I'm sure Cooper will just love her.  How about....Snow White (Snowy) or Vanna (White).

well, she is 9 months old (a guess) and a little shorter than Cooper, though much chunkier. Id guess around 60lbs (same as Cooper, who is tall) but we will weigh her when she comes home. Being female she will be on the smaller side of the breed (if its correct) and being mixed with a lab too of course

The pup looks lots like these two.  I can see why they were suggested.

Congrats! She's a beautiful girl! To me, she looks like a Lacy, Shelly, or Shiloh. As to her breed, I'd have to research my dog book, but she looks part Pyr - maybe. When you get her, please post her height and weight. That'll help somewhat.

The first one that came to mind was Cotton, but that isn't very girly, so I thought Lilly or Chloe.  She is beautiful though, ah, maybe Bella

Lily is nice and I like Bianca too! My Rio who is black and white is officially named Ebano Avorio which means ebony and ivory in Italian!

Crystal is nice too with Cooper. She looks so sweet--good luck with her!

I actually had Kuvasz while growing up. Most of them are thicker coated, looking similar to Great Pyr, but some of them do have a shorter coat and do resemble the look of Lady. I would say Labrador though. She really has a Lab face. Akbash dogs are pretty rare. I think it is funny what some fo the shelters come up with for their breed guesses. She looks very sweet.

well, she does look a bit labby, id definately say its in there, but shes definately mixed with something, she has longer, slightly wavy fur and a big fluffy tail then bends over her back. Ill get some better photos tomorrow when we go take her for a walk
