Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

There was a recent discussion that brought out some strong opinions  and although not everyone had the same opinion the discussion was civil and friendly.

Unfortunately the person who started the discussion did not like some of what was discussed, so she decided to leave DK and strip her comments out of the discussion. ****UPDATE - AS OF 10 am EST the whole discussion has been removed****

There are times that we don't all agree and that is OK - I respect all of the DK family and try to treat all with the same respect that I would like from them.

We all come here as a community, to share and help each other.  There are "hot" issues about our Doodles and a healthy and lively discussion follows.  We can each learn from one another.

I encourage everyone to voice their opinions.

yep, sorry we lost one.  i know that i've been onboard on good days and bad days. thankfully I'm still welcomed the next day!
If everyone was of the same opinion it would be a boring world indeed!

I noticed earlier today that she had left.  And it was obvious by her posts that as the discussion progressed, she was unhappy with the replies she was getting.  I think she was hoping that she was only going to get short answers to each of her questions and not opinions about the overall content of what she was saying.

As in life in general, everyone has a right to their opinion and a right to voice that opinion.  If everyone's opinion was the same, it would be a very boring world.

Everyone should feel free to voice their opinions and others should be open minded enough to listen to those opinions (whether they agree or not) and take away from it what they choose.

I agree that everyone should be able to voice his/her opinion, particularly when a question is posed, as long as everyone is civil (and politically correct).  This is a large community with people from all walks of life so differences are inevitable.  It is too bad that she left.

I agree with what you have said! I think we all need to be able to see the other side of any argument, how else will we learn things? I really value the varying opinions on this site.

On the other hand, I also think it's important for people to remember that if you come off sounding too attacking or offensive, you will not in any way educate the person. You will just make them defensive and bitter. I think we can all find a reasonable balance!

I agree Camilla, it's hard to find that balance though when you feel so strongly about the subject matter. I strive to provide whatever information I can and hope the person sees the light and comes to the right decision themselves. I can see why she got upset based on the strong reaction to her post, but I certainly understand why others were upset too and share their views. I really don't think she understood the kind of people she'd be interarcting with on this forum. Based on what i read she had no business breeding her dog and everyone was right to caution her against it. I hope she at leasts reconsiders what she is doing. It's too bad there isn't a Karen and a Andy&Sharon to step in everytime someone gets the dumb idea to breed their dog.
For clarification, I wasn't really talking about this specific instance. I have those same strong feelings as most that commented and I don't think anyone in the discussion was rude to her. I just meant in general, we should all keep in mind that attacking people won't make them listen. :-)
So true!
I agree with what you've said entirely. We will never agree on everything and we are a diverse group. Freedom to express your opinion is vital and so is respect for one another. I knew from the moment I saw that discussion there would be lots of controversy. Too bad the poster left. She could have closed the discussion and moved on though leaving is an option we all have.

Well not really.  Once you've hit HDA status you're stuck here for life. It's part of the fine print of the terms of service you agreed to upon joining DK.  Muuuhahahahahahaha! jk

LOL. I read the contract and I surrender my freedom.
Love it!
