Does anyone else have a doodle that is obsessed with leaves that blow across the yard? If there is a moving leaf Rosie pounces on it and gets so excited as if she had caught a squirrel or something! Anyone else have this?

My girls are obsessed with leaves. They don't do anything with them once they catch them but they think they must check them out. About 6 weeks ago Sophie was asked to be in a Marketing Video for the Ohio Veteran's Home where she is a Therapy Dog Volunteer. It was a beautiful, windy Fall day and the leaves were beautiful and falling like it was snowing. I got her all cleaned up, brushed out and pretty looking and when we showed up they said that we were going to go outside on the walking path to shoot the video. We rounded up some of the residents and along with Sophie we headed outside to the walking path which winds through the woods. Did I mention it was a beautiful WINDY Fall day. The leaves were blowing everywhere. As we approached I thought I was in big trouble, but Sophie was so enjoying all the attention she was getting from the residents that she left the leaves alone ... I was so relieved.
Oh yeah!! During our first puppy class, one homework assignment was to categorize distractions from most to least. Blowing leaves topped Sedona's list. She's a little better now that she's two, but a leaf blowing across her path will still send her off!
Darwin enjoys playing in falling or flying leaves. I like to pick up big handfuls and sprinkle them down on him, he loves it!
Absolutely.
Luna is a little hunter by nature, and will chase and attempt to catch anything that moves, so you can imagine what a thrill leaves are for her!
Bailey loves them...she actually caught one mid air the morning...made me laugh! She was so proud of herself!
Uh Hugh! he wind is bad out there and Chloe will not go potty she just wants to play. Sooner or later she will have to just give in and squat!!! Yes obsessed!!!
I hate walking them in the fall for this reason!! They are so distracted by everything!! Stella grabs them and then shakes the life out of the poor leaves!! And not to mention that they stick to their beards terribly!!!
You bet. Bailey is now 2 years old and still loves to play with the fall leaves. He chased them more when he was a puppy but still enjoys them. When we are out walking and a large leaf in blowing nearby he will pounce on it and then happily carry it in his mouth as a trophy for a while before dropping it and continuing on our walk. He has so much fun with the fall leaves! I bet he would love to jump in a large pile of leaves.
YES! Bexter cracks me up. It is hilarious watching him out in the yard trying to catch leaves that blow in front of his face. It isn't quite so hilarious, though, when I'm trying to have a nice walk and he suddenly lunges toward a blowing leaf to catch it. Then it's sort of a pain!
YES! I love watching her chasing them around our yard.... but, on our walks she could rip my arm off! I'm trying to train Rosie so that my special needs daughter can walk her. This will not work if she continues to do this on walks. =(
My ALD loves playing with the leaf blower. He follows my husband around when he is blowing the leaves and pounces on them as they fly up from the leaf blower. He is absolutely fearless. He also liked the vacume cleaner but has gotten over that now. Powerful and noisy? Just his kind of toy.
