Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Been thinking about this and had to post somewhere and cannot post on FB because they are all friends there.
I am thankful I am not....
1) 58 years old and unemployed for three years, home repossessed, savings and 401(k) gone, living in my mother's mobile home, and getting advances from my inheritance for expenses
2) 30 years old, master's degree, working part time in a liquor store, living with my parents, and $75,000 in student loans
3) 48 years old, alcoholic, children raised and on their own, living with my mother and retraining on the computer for medical billing
4) 30 years old, father of two, medical unit deployed to Afghanistan, wife and baby living with her parents, daughter living with her grandmother (her mother also deployed)
5) 28 years old, college degree, just returned from the Peace Corps in Eastern Europe, living in a tent in my parents' backyard because house filled with my sister, her husband, and kids
Do you see some similarities here? Thank goodness for parents or all these people would be homeless.

Wow! Times are tough and the effect is cutting deep. I'm so grateful that my daughter and her husband are doing well during these tough times.
so true, thanks for reminding us, "it is not how well off you are, how educated, etc but how adjusted you are to difficult life situations...
I am thankful beyond words that I not only am not one of the above mentioned, but no one I know or love is in these situations as well.
Yet.
Everyone is on a slippery slope in this economy. We should all take nothing for granted and cherish what we do have in family and friends, and doodles.
About 2 years ago, DH was in #2 situation - but with even more student loan debt from law school and slim job prospects. Thank goodness for my job.
Yesterday I found myself complaining that he is working 70 hours a week. But we have a house on our own, two great dogs, health insurance and I should stop complaining about that.
Thanks for the note Lynda! I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving - it's all about being with the people you love!
I'm glad it all worked out for you!!
It is my wish that this time next year, all five of those parents listed above (for positive reasons) will be Empty Nesters! Hopefully good things are coming their way!
My daughter has been with me for a while as she faces trying to get through a divorce and find work in a strange city and somehow start a new life. She just found a job, might not be full-time at first but it's a start--I'm so proud of her for somehow getting out there and doing what she needed to do in spite of feeling almost paralyzed by fear and grief.
It says a lot about a person when they don't give into the fear and grief of a time like this. She is also so fortunate to have your support and guidance. I hope things start looking up for her soon.
Any of this could happen to anyone of us ...let's hope the dear Lord will help these people and save us from being a victim to any of these things.
I am Thankful for all the good in this world and so Thankful that mine and ours are doing fine.
It can happen to anyone, it's a sad time. Happy Thanksgiving
These people are lucky to have their families....If they have their health, then they have a lot. Maybe they have family dinners, the grandchildren get to know their families. There are more important things in life then money...certainly it helps, but to be thankful that you are not them is kinda harsh. Some of the people you mentioned serviced our country, volunteered their time in the Peace Corps. They say don't judge others until you walk in their shoes.
Happy Thanksgiving
