Hi everyone- tomorrow starts our journey as an official doodle owner- we pick up Derby in Chatanooga, TN in the morning and am crossing my fingers for a good car ride home. I have been reading everyone's posts and advice for the past month and am hoping it makes me a wee bit more prepared for what is to come. Wish me luck with my 8 week old bundle of puppy love. Must catch up on sleep tonight since it has been 12 years since I've done this!! We have a three year old pug named Marley too, but we rescued him at 9 months so he was already pretty much trained.

How exciting! We drove 750 miles round trip to pick up Tara at 8 weeks! She was GREAT in the car. We had a little cat carrier that she could sleep in but we didn't close the door. Most of the time she just slept with her head on DH's lap and snuggled up to a stuffie!  I hope you have a wonderful and uneventful trip!  And you're RIGHT about getting all the sleep you can NOW! LOL!

This is just so exciting....I know you are beyond elated cause I was. Believe me it's a lot of work but well worth the effort. I hope all goes well.

"Good Luck" we will be watching for some fun new pics and posts.

Have a great, safe trip!  We drove from Texas to Wisconsin to pick up Kirby at 8 weeks old, and he was just great on the ride home!  Some people are nuts when it comes to Doodles, lol!!

What exciting news! Have a wonderful time holding that little bundle of love. You are in for a ride and tons of joy.

How exciting and good luck! Definitely catch up on sleep, you will need it!

Its the most awesome feeling bringing a new puppy home and adding another family member - good luck :)

I'm so happy for you!  Good luck with the trip (although I'm sure it will be fine), and please share pictures when you can.

Good luck on your ride although I'm sure it will be a fun time. My only advise is to bring some extra towels in case Derby gets a little car sickness. Sme do and some don't. Please let us all know how it went. You will learn tons about being a great doodle mommy here.

oh how exciting! Dont let Derby sleep on your lap - have him in a carrier or in a harness attached to the seat belt. Dont comfort him with pets is hes nervous or sick - you will reinforce the behaviour. Talk quietly to him in a soft voice, or play soothing music.

Have blankets, puppy wipes, water, chew toy with you

Good luck and keep us posted!!! And so it begins.................

By now you should be up to your ears in puppy kisses!  Hope everything went well with the ride home and that Derby's settling in nicely!

Congrats!  Can't wait for pictures!
