Not sure if I should post this in grooming or not, so you can send me over there. :-)
We just noticed that Bentley's ears were pretty matted. I felt awful because I thought I had his grooming all under control. Anyway, the groomer said we needed to completely shave his ears. We groom Bentley ourselves and I've never had to shave anything on hime, except his sanitary. When we got home he started shaking his head alot and scratching it. He's never done this before, even when they've plucked the hairs inside his ear. although this time I noticed they didn't use the powder that's supposed to be used for numbing or something along those lines.
Question is, is this normal? I know that my legs itch after shaving, so I wasn't sure if that's the same thing. This was Sunday and he's still doing it alot. Not sure if something is irritating him or if there's anything I can do to help him out. I've been rubbing them alot because I feel bad for him.
Thanks for your advice!

I'm not sure. Maybe it just feels weird for him. Maybe just watch and see over the next few days. I can't imagine it being anything serious.
It might be irritates--just wait a few days and see if it subsides. If not, then maybe there was a reason that the groomer thought his ears needed shaving--like a strong odor or discharge--maybe he has an infection but the evidence has all been temporarily removed? Just a thought--keep an eye on it!
No odor or discharge, so maybe it was just irritated from the plucking.
My doods are always itchy for a few days after grooming....they scratch and lick where they get shaved down. Give him a few days and he will probably be fine. =)
Shave was done on the ear. I really don't think it needed it, but I don't think they wanted to deal with the mats. I regretted afterwards because after a finding a couple more small mats behind his ear, I was able to work those out with a comb.
Hope it feels better soon-I found one behind each of Myla's ears too and had to comb them out. (after she was groomed)
