Well I kiss Guinness all the time. Now poor Murph has to "earn" one of my kisses. I know what you mean about the grandkids. My oldest is now 13, and I've had to stop kissing him. He even looks like he's in pain when I hug him now. Why do they have to grow up?
yes i kiss Cooper all the time!
It's true that most dogs don't like being hugged. It's seen as an aggressive and/or dominant behavior to a dog and can trigger the fight or flight response. That said, your own dog needs to tolerate anything from you, but maybe only after you've developed a bond of trust and respect.
I force Jackdoodle to let me touch and kiss his nose. It doesn't exactly take a S.W.A.T. team, but he tries to avoid it.
However, when God has blessed you with an award-winning honker right in the middle of your face, you have to share it. Especially with your mom.
My DD sings a song to him when she takes hold of his muzzle to kiss or touch his nose:
"Touch it if I want to, kiss it if I want to..."
LOL!
Love the song! too cute.
Well Karen, we all know that JD is the King of DK's noses! He has the best ever and if I ever were to meet him I would be trying my best to kiss his nose every chance I could. He has the most awesome nose ever!
Thanks, Nancie! Gracie Doodle is certainly not lacking in the kissable nose department, either! :)
