Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

We all just love the wet sloppy kisses our wonderful doodles give us, hence the name of the website. However, I have been taking note lately of how many times a day I will just walk by one of my two adorable doodles, and just have to plant a big smooch on the top of their head or tip of their nose.
I liken it to how when in kissing range of one of my dear dear grandchildren and just can't stop myself from kiss- kiss- kissing them!
What's the best part --- is none of them wipe off my kisses....yet!
Remember that stage ladies, when your children were so humiliated and disgusted by our blatant show of affection they just had to wipe their face with their sleeve to get the cooties off !

Doodles are a mama's answer to a kissing addiction!

Anyone else kiss their doodles too?

Well I kiss Guinness all the time.  Now poor Murph has to "earn" one of my kisses.  I know what you mean about the grandkids.  My oldest is now 13, and I've had to stop kissing him.  He even looks like he's in pain when I hug him now.  Why do they have to grow up?

Oh yes Jane, now I remember the exaggerated grimace of pain they did when they were 13! Had forgotten that charming stage. Lol

yes i kiss Cooper all the time!

I remember reading somewhere that we shouldn't subject dogs to hugs and kisses. Especially hugs. Something about respecting their space....and other such stuff.

It's true that most dogs don't like being hugged. It's seen as an aggressive and/or dominant behavior to a dog and can trigger the fight or flight response. That said, your own dog needs to tolerate anything from you, but maybe only after you've developed a bond of trust and respect.

I force Jackdoodle to let me touch and kiss his nose. It doesn't exactly take a S.W.A.T. team, but he tries to avoid it.

However, when God has blessed you with an award-winning honker right in the middle of your face, you have to share it. Especially with your mom.

My DD sings a song to him when she takes hold of his muzzle to kiss or touch his nose:

"Touch it if I want to, kiss it if I want to..."

LOL!

So true Karen, Murphy was not a hugged at all in the beginning. Used to hurt my feelings. Now DH holds him in his lap or Carey's him like a baby in his arms and Murphy just melts into him. Must have just needed to take our time and build that bond.

Love the song! too cute.

Well Karen, we all know that JD is the King of DK's noses!  He has the best ever and if I ever were to meet him I would be trying my best to kiss his nose every chance I could.  He has the most awesome nose ever!

Thanks, Nancie! Gracie Doodle is certainly not lacking in the kissable nose department, either! :)

Karen that is interesting regarding hugs. Snicks will give both DH and myself a hug every morning we be d down and he puts his paws on our shoulders and we rub his tummy. However he will only do it when it is just us. We have tried to get him to demonstrate ( show off) to our family and he will not do it. In fact he looks at us like we are crazy and walks away. Now I think I know why. Learn something new everyday here.
Do you try to get him to hug the other family members or hug you both in front of them? Funny how they can give us that look, like we are crazy! My murphy gives me that look, and MANY others.
No us just like when it is just the two of us. So in the end WE look like the crazy people.
