Pet Insurance

I am just wiondering about everyones opinions on pet insurance. I am considering it because you never know what can happen to a pet and depending on whats wrong with the pet, your bill can be thousands of dollars! I know pet smart has a plan through banfield, but i havent seen very good reviews on them.

If you do a search by Pet Insurance you will see tons of discussions. I just did one about the cost of Pet Insurance, but I have it for both of my dogs and would be scared to go without. I will try and find the discussion. It had some great comments.

I would advise you to go for it and as soon as possible.  Time and time again I read posts from people who don't have it and end up with massive bills.  A lot of people here go with Pet Plan who it seems are good when it comes to settling claims.

I put off insurance for cooper for about 2 1/2 years. I finally got it a month or so ago and feel much better. Peace of mind!

I got it too after a few people had some sick doodles and they had put it off too! 

We went with Embrace that also has a wellness plan in addition to illness that includes the vaccines. We just went with the illness plan since Louie is 4.

Hope we don't need it!

I highly recommend PetPlan.    www.gopetplan.com.    Unfortunately, we have had a lot of experience with them this year and they have paid exactly as stated in their policy.  For us, they have gone above and beyond to help us with filing our claims and getting answers that we needed.    I was worried about a particularly expensive procedure that Cooper needed and they told me over the phone where to find a form online for Pre-Authorization of the procedure and where to fax it so it would be considered quicker.   All the previous 15 years I was with VPI, I never had service like that.

Also, there are many discounts you can get with PetPlan.  Most are listed right there on their website, if you look at the link for discounts.    One not listed is the code "Doodle"     Use that code for a 5% discount and Doodle Messenger also gets $25.00 for their cause.      You can get another 10% for having your dog microchipped.

I too highly recommend Pet Plan!  They have been awesome and there are many plans & deductibles to choose from.  I would get it sooner rather than later.  If something came up before you got it, then it is a pre-existing condition & won't be covered.

I urge you to get pet insurance now.  I procrastinated and put it off and meant to do it....... Now Roo has it and it does not cover his Addison's disease which is very expensive for the rest of his life.  Tigger is covered.  I am glad to hear of Martha's good experience with Petplan as that is what I chose for Tigger and Roo.

Do it now - you won't be sorry.
