The Good, The Bad and The....................Stinky!

UPDATE:  Haley just did it again.  We were playing fetch and he took off with his ball and before I could get to him 100 feet away he rolled in new possum poop.  "Leave it" and "No" had zero effect on him!  Out came the leash and hose and I hosed the poop off again.  It's going to be a long summer.

The other day I had Haley on the grooming table and I saw a pickup truck in the drive way. Took the noose off Haley and told him to "stay". I went out to see what was going on. It took about 10 to 15 minutes to take care of getting a neighbor's dog back to them. When I went back inside my good doodle was still sitting on the table waiting for me. I finished combing, ear cleaning and nails. Gave him a bath and dried him.
That afternoon Haley and I went outside for some fetch and weeding. While Haley was taking a break from fetch I started weeding and lost track of him. A little while later Haley was beside me and I kept thinking I smelled organic fertilizer. The odor was coming from my "good" doodle. He had decided he needed a little "perfume" and found a nice fresh pile of possum poop. His neck was black with poop! Why oh why do they have to roll in stinky things?

I'd be so upset!  I'm sorry.  It does take so much work to have them look & smell their best.  What a little "stinker!"

I'm still amazed that he would stay for that long! How did you train him to do that? As for the poop. I know it's disgusting that Bella eats hers, but it would be much worse to me if she rolled in other animals poops! But they do seem to find the worst stuff right after a bath don't they?

No formal training. i just tell him to stay and most of the time he does! oh and he also eats possum poop! love those doodle kisses.

LOL - I don't know why dogs love to roll in stinky things, but they sure do and almost always when they are freshly bathed

EWWWWW! What does possum poop even look like?? He needs a new hobby!! Hope it gets better!
