Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Since I have been a member on DK, I have learned so much useful information and a lot about members’ dogs.  I know about the illnesses that afflict some DK doodles.  I know which dogs are picky eaters and which ones have poop issues or behavior problems.  But it dawned on me, that with a few exceptions, I don’t really know much about the humans of DK.    Many of us recently stepped out of our comfort zones to post pictures of ourselves on our profiles, but there is no lasting record of that.  I know that DK members are compassionate people that are truly invested in the lives of their doodles, but what makes you tic?  Who are you when you have to step away from DK and enter the real world (the horror!!)?  So I challenge you to give us a little info about the person behind the dog.

I’ll go first.

Name: Amy

Location: Dyer, IN (35 minutes outside of Chicago)

Generation: Millennial   (http://www.cnn.com/interactive/2011/05/living/infographic.boomer/in...)

Birth Order: Oldest of 3 kids – the only girl

Family: Husband, no kids

Education: Purdue and DePaul

Occupation: CPA – I work as a tax analyst for a Steel Mill.  I hope to work as a Business Officer for a Public School in the near future; I want to feel like my job actually matters.

Biggest Fear:  I have a phobia of grasshoppers.  Yes, I know they don’t bite or anything but they just really freak me out.  They blend into their surroundings and when you least expect it they jump/fly around…yuck

General: super organized, sometimes impatient, a planner – not a spur of the moment type of person, shy – I much prefer to sit back and take it all in rather than be the center of attention, obsessed with details, cautious (I was going to list the craziest thing I had ever done, but then I couldn’t come up with anything so I had to leave it out!), and incredibly sarcastic – but I swear, I am NOT as boring as I sound!!

If I could have any pet (that isn’t a doodle), I would love to have:  A big fat penguin – one of those cute cartoony looking ones.

Addiction: A new yogurt place recently opened here (called Red Mango).  You go in and fill up a cup with as much or as little yogurt/soft serve ice cream as you want and then you can top it with all kinds of great toppings (candy, cookies, fruit, choc syrup, etc).  I have become an addict, especially now that it has gotten warm outside.  I go there at least once a week, and I’m sure it will get worse before it gets better.

Random Useless Fact About Me: I have eaten oatmeal almost every weekday morning since October 2009

Guilty Pleasure TV Show: Sister Wives -- I have no idea how I got started watching it, but now I am hooked.

LOL about your toe, and what a scary/exciting surprise to have another baby after such a gap!

Biggest Fear:  Not ever getting my career going again. And getting cancer (my dad died at the age of 49 when I was 19)

General: I like to be organized, but procrastinate. Love the outdoors, gardening, hiking, and reading

If I could have any pet (that isn’t a doodle), I would love to have:  A Devon Rex cat. I currently have 2 tabby cats and a lynx siamese. DH says no more til one dies :(  But one day, when we have money and own our own place, i will just bring one home

Addiction: watching tv on line - Once I start a new program I have to watch all the episode as quickly as possible. Also my online pirate game - i have sold my account twice now, and keep returning after 6 months, just cant stay away

Random Useless Fact About Me: I need LOTS of sleep - 8-9 hours a night. DH on the other hand only gets 5 or 6, and Im jealous

I have an old friend who comes from a small town outside of Nottingham. I'd like to say it starts with a D, or a G. I can't remember.

I too need 8-9 hours. It's crazy how grumpy I get if I don't get enough. I'm so jealous of people who run on 4 or 5 hours without any affect. They can get so much more done!

I don't know why I thought you are in England. I need 8-9 hours of sleep as well. I could sleep more if there was no Monty. Fortunately, I he turned out to be a sleepyhead as well, so I can enjoy my morning nap till 8:30 on some days (especially winter when it's dark). Hope you find the job of your dream soon.

Do you have a Pirate name?

I need my sleep too.  I am usually in bed by 10pm but have to get up around 4:45am and unfortunately the doodles stick to that wake up schedule on the weekend too  :(

My pirate name was Andrina (the name of the little girl in a ballet book series I loves as a child - Ballet with Drina), but I changed it a few years ago to Keto, a sea goddess

I too could sleep more  than 9 hours but Cooper wakes me up early every morning

Robin Hood!!! My degree is Environmental Studies, haven't decided an emphasis yet...

Name: Regina

Family: Husband married for 14 years, 2 children. Joshua 11 and Natalie 7

Occupation: stay home mom, but work in my daughters school 2 hours a day.
Biggest Fear:  I have a fear of of losing my children...I lost my parents at a very young age. My daddy died when I was 6 and my mom died when I was 8. I have had a lot of death in my family and terrified of losing them.i feel that when I become attached to people or pets they seem to die an untimely death....my biggest fear. Have not opened up about that...but something I carry in my thoughts...
General: can meet a person in the grocery line and be friends with them before we check out. I love people. I think everyone has a story to tell and like to hear it. I am not shy and always the first one who will introduce myself and start a conversation! I can always can keep a conversation going and love to hear people talk. I love to take pictures and put them all over the wall at our home!! I keep my kids on a good schedule and do volunteer work with a Girl Scout Troop. I would do anything for anybody...I enjoy my life while I am here on this earth...and trust in God that he is taking me on the path that he wants me to go on...
If I could have any pet (that isn’t a doodle), I would love to have:  kitty cat :)
Addiciton: blizzards from DQ, I love Diet Coke over Diet Pepsi, love Gummie Bears, have to read the newspaper everyday!!
Guilty Pleasure Show: Young and Restless...neen watching since I was 12... Now 35 and still watching it...!!
Aww Regina..I think it is normal given all you have been through to have those fears.... You lost everyone you lived as a small child...right when security was so important.

I make friends at the grocery store too!  We sound like we would be friends too!!!!

Regina, you are exactly the kind of person I like to be around.  Being shy is so much easier when you are around someone who is open and outgoing.  Put 2 shy, quiet people together and neither one will say a word until the silence becomes too awkward  :)

I would love to meet you in the grocery store one day... :-)
