Another idiot - this time in San Diego. I just saw a news report about a woman idiot who left her 4 month old baby in the car & went shopping.  Luckily a store clerk saw the baby & called the police. The baby was in the car for ~ 10 minutes and was drenched & passed out. The woman was arrested. Will people never learn?

I heard a thing on the radio this morning asking parents to always look in their back seat before they exit their vehicle to double check that their child isn't back there.  It is sad that society is always in such a rush that you have to be reminded to check for your child.

Both of the incidents in the link I provided occurred recently in your state of Indiana, Amy; maybe they are making a concerted effort to keep this from happening again.

I agree, having to be reminded that you have your infant in the car with you should not be necessary, ever.

In some of these cases, though, it seems the parents were aware that the child was with them, they just urgently needed to go shopping, unencumbered by their children.

Well sadly, many of them will now remain unencumbered.  I would not be able to live with myself.

Even if you only leave the baby for one minute, things can happen.  You could fall and hit your head, there could be an earthquake, you could be taken hostage--unlikely events, to be sure, but why take any preventable chance with the life of your child?

Some people are just too stupid to live!
