(UPDATE) August 13th -- Status just turned over today to review completed, papers sent to Accounting for Check to be cut. I called and the claim was approved. I had pretty much convinced myself that they were going to deny it for some reason. They calculated it pretty much as I expected they would except that they paid for some Glucosamine (Phylox) tablets that the vet sold us at the visit back in May and that surprised me. Ortho didn't seem impressed by them so we have stopped giving them now. So, I'm a happy camper and PetPlan is still in my good graces. We have now saved more than Lucy's premiums have cost us. While that is good, I would be just as happy if we never have to use it again.
Just curious to know from those who have Pet Plan and have filed claims how long it has taken for the approval process. I seem to remember that everyone has said that it was very quick. If you have filed more than one claim did it take longer for the first claim? We filed the claim for Lucy's surgery on July 20th. That was a Friday. It showed up on the website as processed in, initial paperwork complete and if they needed any additional information they would contact me on Monday, July 23rd. So, as of yesterday that was 3 weeks and they haven't asked me for any additional information. I called this past Monday and they indicated that they had a lot of July claims and they were taking about 2 weeks and I should hear this week. I had sent an e-mail last Friday which they finally responded to on Wednesday of this week just saying that the first claim normally takes a little longer because they have to review the full 2 year history. (which in Lucy's case was less than 2 pages of Vet handwritten notes). Just curious as to what others experiences have been and if taking longer signals trouble?

i do not have pet plan, i have PC insurance, but it took a long time for our first (and only) claim - probably around a month
I filed a claim on Fudge's last ER visit and it took awhile. In fact, I called finally, but it did get approved. I can't remember exactly, but I think it was at least three weeks. Good luck!
I always got my back within the week to 10 days the longest... I never heard of waiting so long. I have Pet Plan, They must really be backed up...
I would call and complain and tell them you need the money.
Stuart just had three claims (due to his bee sting reaction) - all three claims were approved within one week and two checks followed quickly BUT the third check has never shown up so they will have to re-issue it. I do think they are a great company - I'm hoping you get the results you want!!!!!!
I think my claims for Calla were faster than yours.
It took awhile with my first claim for the GI issues but that was because the Vet did not fax the full history to them initially. After that I would say it took between two and three weeks.
I have Pet Plan and three weeks is about average to receive a check, denials are faster. If you don't receive a check by Monday, I think you should call them and ask about the status of your claim.
Thanks everyone. Do they update the website when it is approved or denied, or do they just send a check?
I am pretty sure it changes the status to "claim complete" and they tell you the check has been mailed.
I checked my claims and what is indicated on a competed claim is:
Status: Claim complete.
Explanation: Your completed claim has been mailed to you.
And there is a .pdf document with details.
