I am wondering how many people have actually tasted their dog's food?
I have never tasted Alma's food. We free feed her. I have never had a dog that does not eat the instant the food is put down. But Alma eats when she wants to - sometimes hours after I have put her food down. We've tried many different brands with the same results. She is at a healthy weight according to our vet and has been really healthy. So, I'm really just curious...
Have you ever tried dog food?

I have never tried the food but I must admit, I have tasted the biscuits and other treats. They all taste kind of bland. Not really a lot of taste. Daphne is a very picky eater. Her current food is Fromm. I have tried 3 different foods for her and she does not eat it right away. She looks at me like she is insulted that I didn't put down a bowl of ground beef! If I put ANYTHING on top of it, she will then usually eat the whole bowl of food. It doesn't matter what it is or how small it is. Tonight, I was eating boiled squash and she wanted some so I put a couple slices on her food and some of the water it was boiled in and she gobbled it right up! Before that, I don't think she had eaten since yesterday morning. The vet says that she won't starve herself so I guess I should listen!
No, but BIL accidentally ate a gourmet dog cookie once and he said it tasted like bland wheat. LOL
I think that's how all the cookie type taste. They all kind of taste the same, at least the ones I have tried. Now I sound like a crazy lady! The crazy dog lady that eats dog treats...LOL!!!
I have been baking Bailey's lately. I was going to make some for the doodle romp next week..do I need to make an extra bag for you or can you share with Daphne LOL
@ Camilla - I shared your comment with my daughter. We were wondering, did you ever tell him what he ate?
Well, it was a bag of cookies from a local dog bakery, and to be fair they do look just like those cookies that come in christmas tins. When I got home the bag was open on the counter and BIL said "those cookies aren't very good" I laughed for about 10 minutes before I could tell him. He was SO not happy. He he.
True confession: I tried some of the Kong Stuff 'n' Paste, peanut butter flavor. It tasted just like canned cheese, only a it was a little malty, that's the only way I can describe it. The ingredients look similar to the human spray cheese. Ick!
No wonder the dogs all want human food! It must just all taste rather boring!
I haven't tried Tara's food but I did taste some kibble years back. Ick! Tara eats raw so I probably won't be tasting that any time soon! In spite of the fact that she is very treat oriented in training she shows little to no interest in her meals. No matter what they are (I've tried different kibbles too). She is the first dog I have had who has a lack of interest in her meals like Alma. My previous dogs would about knock me over to get to their bowls. It seems odd but I have gotten used to it. There are two treats that I have found so far that must actually have some taste to them because Tara and our cat Amber both prefer them and will eat them anytime they are offered. One is freeze dried liver treats and the other is Plato's Organic Chicken. Oh and she will never turn down a piece of cheese either! :)
Daphne does not like cheese. She's the only dog I've ever had that doesn't. I just thought all dogs liked cheese. But she does love the liver treats. They are her favorite! I refuse to taste those!!!
My two love that liver.
