I've been scouring DK trying to find progressive weights on puppies to estimate how big Oscar will ultimately get. So far, I haven't found a puppy that was the same weight as Oscar at his age. I was told by his breeder that he should get no heavier than 40 lbs, but at 11 weeks and 2 days he's a whopping 19.6 lbs! 2 days ago he was 18.6 lbs. At 10-1/2 weeks old Lucy, Oscar's 3 yr old sister, was 15.8 lbs, and she's now 53 lbs. Anyone have a similarly sized puppy as Oscar at about 11 weeks old? If so, how big is your puppy now?

UPDATE:

12 weeks, 1 day: 21.4 lbs.  12 wk pic:

13 weeks (3 months exactly): 23.2 lbs

14 weeks: 25.2 lbs

15 weeks: 27.8 lbs.

16 weeks: 29.4 lbs.

     Estimated mature weight: 29.4 lbs. x 2 = 58.8 lbs. + 5-10 lbs = 63.8 - 68.8 lbs

17 weeks: 31.4 lbs.

18 weeks: 33.4 lbs. (I swear, I'm not making this up! Oscar has been gaining EXACTLY 2 lbs. a week for the past 2 weeks... I weigh him on the same digital scale each week, so there's no inconsistency between different scales.)

19 weeks: 34.6 lbs. (Oscar had his neuter procedure this week)

20 weeks: 36.4 lbs.

21 weeks, 1 day: 39.2 lbs.

22 weeks, 1 day (5 mos.): 39.8 lbs.

23 weeks, 1 day (5 mos., 1 week): 43.9 lbs. (weighed on vet's scale)

1 yr old: 55 lbs  1 yr pic:

16 months: 59lbs, 24" tall at withers:

18 mos.: 62.6lbs.

19 mos.: 65 lbs.

22 mos.: 67.8 lbs.

24 mos.: 69 lbs., 25" at the withers. Oscar on his 2nd birthday:

Porter was 19 pounds at 11 weeks. At 8-months he was 65. He's about to celebrate his first birthday at 81-pounds. You may have a heavyweight! (I'll add that mine isn't fat and has yet to "fill out")

OMD, I am so in TROUBLE! Seriously, we had wanted a smaller dood this time around (Lucy likes smaller dogs), but its looking like Oscar will be quite a bit bigger than Lucy. He has enormous paws, ears and tongue (what?). Oh well, we'll love him regardless (he is a huge sweetheart and a big cuddler). Good thing we have a king-sized bed!

I've been tracking Annie's weight, and she has slowed down a bit:
10 weeks - 13 Lbs
11 weeks - 15.3 Lbs
12 weeks - 16.5 Lbs
13 weeks - 19 Lbs
14 1/2 weeks - 24 Lbs
17 weeks - 31 Lbs
20 weeks - 37.6 Lbs
21 weeks - 39.4 lbs
26 weeks - 46.1 lbs. (taken just now)
Today is her 6 month (26 week) birthday! :)

Happy 6 month Birthday, Annie!

I had a spreadsheet of Kirby's earlier weights.  I gave up after awhile as he was clearly going to be bigger than we expected and it was too shocking to continue to see the scale go up.  LOL

Kirby was supposed to be around 50 lbs.  He just turned 1 last month and he is around 75 lbs.  At 11 weeks old, he was 17 lbs.

And it looking through this spreadsheet, it wasn't unusual to put on up to 4 lbs per week.  Sometimes it was less than a pound, but some weeks he jumped 4-5 lbs.  There was no pattern to it.

Kirby still has some filling out to do and has a very lean look to him.

Kirby is a labradoodle and has more poodle in him than lab ... the thing that shocked me was how tall he got.  Definitely taller than expected.  I was working with a trainer today to help get Kirby to heel and the trainer kept reminding me to keep my arms relaxed at my side and I couldn't because my hand was hitting the top of Kirby's head.  That is defintely taller than the 21" at the shoulder measurement that I anticipated.

Wow, that's amazing. Usually, when they have more poodle in them they have the height but not the weight (the poodle is much leaner than the lab). Do you know how tall Kirby is at the withers/shoulders?

Going by Kirby's weight at 11 weeks (Oscar was 18.6 lbs), Oscar would be more than 75 lbs fully grown! I don't know, there are so many conflicting reports, its so difficult to calculate. All I'm sure of is that Oscar will be a big guy. I guess Lucy better get all the 'pushing-Oscar-over-with-her-nose' while she can because the day is coming when the scale (quite literally) of power will turn, and its going to be Lucy being pushed over! Maybe then she'll take the cue when Oscar wants to be left alone (she would go NON-STOP with the playing if we let her).

Looks like he is around 25-26".  He wouldn't stand still for me!!

I hope Lucy gets her time in!  Doesn't sound like she will have long to have the physical advantage!

We keep thinking that, Julie!! Poor Lucy won't have the advantage for long. Besides being a puppy, Oscar had his lower baby canines extracted a couple weeks ago, so his bite doesn't pack as much punch. That's all going to change in a few months when his adult teeth come in. He's always held his own with Lucy, even when he was very small, but now at being nearly twice the size as when he first came home, he 'tries' to put Lucy in her place.  She simply won't be put. She always comes back for more, regardless. One of these days (in the not so distant future) she'll have no choice but to listen to and respect him.

I have a Scandinavian Golden Retriever (less square than the English, but more than the American), and always get really confused about how people use weight for size indication on Doodles, so very glad you asked the question Debb.

I think this explains my point: my Golden is 21" and weighs ca 70/71 lbs. And everyone comments on how petite and slim she is! That would mean Kirby is only a few pounds heavier than my Golden, but ca 5" taller.

The Doodle puppy I'm getting soon is estimated to be 35-40 lbs, and 17-19" tall at adult. If that proves to be right then she will be half the weight of my Golden and only a little shorter. Makes me appreciate how lanky those poodles are!

Maxwell was similar. He weighed 80lbs at one year. He's just a bit heavier now but hasn't been weighed for a while.

Wait until 16 weeks, double the weight and you will be within 5 pounds of the final wt....usually!!! I would guess that your pup will be about 60 pounds--it is very hard for a breeder to predict the final wt. of the puppy--they often base it on the parents' weights and I know from experience that that only works some of the time. My female that has had pups had a litter with weight ranges from 38 to 65 pounds and she weighs 50 pounds, the father weighs 40. I am sure the breeder expected 40-45 pound pups but that didn't happen! And I bet there are DKers who got the wrong prediction as well!

Chester was 22 Lbs at 11 weeks.. He is 83 lbs at 18 Months. I love a big doodle.. you should join the Heavy weight group I think.
