Hoping and praying that none of my fellow Doodle Lovers are effected by this, but wanting to send my thoughts and prayers to those that are and to let you know your Canadian friends are feeling for you. How heartbreaking that society (and lost individuals) can be so cruel. Children under 10 years old don't deserve this fate for any reason.. God Bless!!

My heart just aches to think of the fear and horror these dear children experienced in their final minutes. I just can't imagine the grief these poor parents are feeling. I am praying for them all.

The bodies of those babies are still there in the school...can you even imagine.  As a parent I would have to get in there and hold and cover my child...even if he wasn't alive.  I couldn't possibly handle the thought of him laying there all this time.

Today IS the day to start demanding legislation banning semi-automatic weapons!  There's no better day!  Nicky, the reason the gun laws in this country are such a mess because the majority of us give in to the minority of us, the NRA, AND the gun lobbies who believe Americans have a right to own semi-automatic weapons.  They call it a "slippery slope" if anyone infringes on their perceived rights.  The rights of the rest of us don't seem to matter.  What about the rights of those children?  What about the rights of our children and grandchildren?  The Second Amendment allows Americans the right to bear arms but it DOES NOT GIVE AMERICANS THE RIGHT TO OWN SEMI-AUTOMATIC WEAPONS -- and herein lies the tragedy. These weapons are military mass-killing machines.  It's a complex problem to be sure, and a ban won't solve it completely, but It's a start. There's a reasonable middle ground on the gun control debate (in my opinion) but no reason to allow semi automatic weapons. Period. A background check will never tell you who's about to go off the edge. And there are so many of these on the streets it will take a long time to clean it up. It's time to send a message to Washington, Doodle Moms! And Dads!

My heart breaks for those parents and the families in CT.  I'll light a candle tonight. But today is the day to say ENOUGH! Thank you to our friends outside the US who see the insanity of this.  Thank you for your sympathy.

Believe it or not, when a tragedy like this has occurred in the past, the NRA actually arranges a rally in that area just because they know that people will be calling for gun control laws and they are so threatened by that, they go there to counteract it with a big rally.

Karen, that's interesting.  The squeaky wheel.  Well, let them come.  They have no defense. They hide behind the Second Amendment.  Apples and oranges I say.  They have lots of money but the only protection they have is our silence.
