Hello all we got our goldendoodle Sketch last Saturday he is almost 9 weeks old. Today is the second day I left him in his crate for 2 hours while out. I took him potty rightbefore left and he went, he also had pooped about an 45 minutes before I left. Both days I came home to a huge poop mess in his crate. What am I doing wrong!! Please help .

The crate is most likely too large for him. He should have just enough room to walk in, turn around, and lay down. I would shorten the crate with a puppy divider.

You aren't doing anything WRONG, puppies poop, LOL. How big is your crate? Dogs don't like to mess where they sleep if they can help it. So you don't want a huge crate for a tiny puppy while potty training him.

Agreed with everyone below. Puppies generally don't like to "potty" where they sleep. If your cage is too big, the pup will potty in an open area that is away from it's sleeping area. You will need to block off an area of the crate just big enough for the pup to turn around in. :)

Get a poop sample TODAY, and take it to the vet for an examination. You don't have to take your pup, just the poop.
Crate accidents at this age may certainly be linked to worms or other common intestinal parasites.
If you're crating correctly by limiting the size of the crate, the next thing I would do is look for tummy issues
Murphy had several accidents in his crate at 9 weeks. He didn't have any intestinal issues. He was a baby, and he learned.
Oh, I missed the pup was mere 9 weeks. Aww, a baby. Ya, it does happen. I would still always run a stool sample, take out after EACH MEAL- always, take out more often, check your crate confinement, and be patient with this baby. He will grow to be a great pooper soon enough
Thanks so much everyone I appreciate the help I currently have a divider in his crate but maybe I still have it to big. I will try to make it smaller. I am so thankful I found this group , you guys are wonderful.

The only thing I would add to all the great comments above is make sure you clean the crate with a good enzyme cleaner, like Nature's Miracle. You want to eliminate any trace of smell to prevent future accidents.
