Hey everyone..i think i may have posted this before..but now its actually happening...

My husband just booked a trip for us as my Christmas gift!! We are leaving for Riviera Maya Mexico in 2 weeks!!! Im very excited... except for the fact that I worry Midas my 8 month old Goldendoodle will forget me :(... we have left him for 2/3 days tops and its been fine.. actually my in laws live upstairs and my sister in law will be taking care of him.. so we will not be boarded..and he will be in the comfort of his own home.. he will probably be crated most of the day...but she will take him out to the yard mannyy times a day... i leave the tv on for him (hehe) and he will have a bone to chew and treats..he will also be having play dates with my sister and her standard poodle whom Midas loves.. so i know he is in good hands and i think he will be more calm and happy in his own home then at some boarding place.. i feel bad that he will be bored..but he will just sleep i guess right? also i know it sounds stupid...but im worried he will be mad at me or forget me while im gone.. we leave on the 12th and come back the 18th...so 7 days.. do u think he will be mad or forget me??? :/ i it possible for him to forget me? ive had him since he is 7 weeks old!

Your pup will remember you even if you left for a YEAR!!!! My dogs get so excited when my kids come home and one of them is only here for 7-8 days a year. She never lived here with any of the dogs but they just know she is family! They do not forget and they do not get mad! They are not like us silly humans--they live in the present. When you are gone, he will enjoy his new life with someone else for a week, then will be very happy to go back to his "old life"--and the fact that he can stay home is wonderful! Have fun!

thank u so much! u made me feel so much better!! seriously i really appreciate it! :)

My dogs were so happy when I returned from a week away it was heartwarming. They do not forget and they bear no grudges.

I just got home after being away for 10 days - by far the longest I have ever left Gavin.  The dog sitter let him outside so that he could meet me in the driveway and after a confused look he jumped up putting a paw on each of my shoulders and licked my face.  Midas will not forget you and he will not be mad.  Have fun on your trip.

I didn't see my dogs for over a month when i moved and they remembered me like I had never left.  My husband will be seeing the dogs for the first time in 2 months later this week and i'm sure that they will be super excited to see him.

I was away for a week last year and my partner brought Riley to the Airport and left him in the car.  When I came out he jumped out of the car and licked me all over in the biggest display of enthusiast greeting you can imagine.  People stopped their cars to take pictures as it was quite something to watch.  Midas will give you the biggest welcome ever when you return home.  Dogs don't have the same sense of time as us and he will be just fine while you are away.  Have the best fun on your vacation.

My daughter has a lab that I see once or twice a year, like the grandkids, I am referred to as Granny!  As in, Stevie go see if Granny has a treat for you.  He always knows me when I get there and he just visited us during Thanksgiving, it is my feet he lays at and he was a bit indignant about the new upstart at our house, but he definitely knows who I am.  Your Midas will be delighted when you return, if he does plan revenge he will forget it as soon as you re-appear.

5 minutes or 5 days, Daisy is always happy to see me....I seriously don't think they have a time reference just their favorite peeps. Daisy doesn't see my daughter often but when she does she is always overjoyed.

Thanks everyone!!! Ahh now I can finally relax and not worry!!! :)
He will not forget you... I remember having these very same thoughts the first time I boarded Shelby and everything was fine. I love the sheer delight and excitement I get upon my homecoming. I had to board My Shelby for 10 days once (she typically gets boarded about 3 times a year)... It was the longest she's been boarded. I loved my vacation, but the benefit of vacation ending was seeing my Shelby. She was so excited to see me and I gave her lots of loving and quality time upon my return. It will be ok!!!

He won't forget you but he just might be mad.  If so he will get over it.  My DIL's whippet gets very hurt when she leaves him for vacations and won't look at her or snuggle up to her for a while after she gets back.  Her other whippet is happy to see her as soon as she returns.

He will be in good hands and will definitely remember you!  He might right at first punish you by ignoring you, but that lasts only a few minutes.  Go have a great time and enjoy the beautiful Riviera Maya and the warm sun!  Lucky you:)
