I am a DK "Socialite"--should I be offended?

DK has a ranking/status system. 

 

I started out ranked as “doodle curious” and then was elevated to “doodle admirer.”  Today, I suddenly became a “socialite.”

 

So what is a socialite? After a bit of sleuthing, I discovered that it is the ONLY DK status tier that does not contain the word “doodle.”

 

500   = Doodle Admirer
1000  = Socialite
2000 = Frequent Doodler
3000 = Doodle Fancier 
4000 = Doodle Enthusiast
5000 = Doodle Lover
6000 = Doodle Fanatic
7000 = Doodle Crazy
8000 = Hopeless Doodle Addict!!!

 

 

Since, my ranking/status is indifferent to my affection for doodles in general and my own sweet doodle boy in particular, I checked in with Miriam Webster:

 

“A socialite participates in social activities and spends a significant amount of time entertaining and being entertained at fashionable events attended by others of similar standing.”

 

So where’s the party? If there are ANY other socialites out there, now is the time to stand-up and be counted!  We await our invitation to the DK pup.

 

Miriam Webster takes propriety seriously, and so I looked at bit further to find a somewhat more scurrilous definition of a socialite, bound up with the history of the Social Register, which in the 19^th century listed the names of only the most prominent families.   Within this frame a reference, a “socialite” is a pretender.  S/he aspires to be a part of “true society” but lacks the gravitas bequeathed by birth and heritage. 

 

I asked my pup, Chance, what he thought about all of this, and he suggested that I tell everyone that on his 5-month birthday (today), he raised his leg to pee for the first time. 

 

That boy of mine can be naughty.

 

And I love him to bits!

Yup, once you hit those 4 digits you have crossed over to the "other side". Headed towards HDA! Congrats. Party? I find something to laugh about, think about, research, question and generally enjoy the spirit of doodle lovers here on DK just about everyday. Better than any party I've ever been to.
