Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Myself and the family are so excited to announce the birth of our "fur" baby born on January 1,2013. The litter consisted of 3 boys (one of whom will be ours) and 2 girls. They are all mainly red in color (no pictures yet.. soon I hope) with some white. My sixteen year thinks it's cute that our puppy is going to be a "PARTI" puppy.

With the birth is the realization that it won't be long before I get to love up my new baby but also lots of anxiety about the first couple of years. I am so thankful for this site and its members. The advice is much appreciated and I absolutely LOVE all the pictures. Especially of everyone's NEW "fur" babies.

Congrats to all of us NEW parents!!

Here is a picture of the boys in our litter, of which I have first pick. The puppy on the left is the one we fell in love with immediately but our breeder says he will be the curliest, we also like the smooth one on the right. I am partial to the wavy, teddy bear look and do not really like the poodle look but will love whatever he turns out like. Ultimately the temperament of the pup will be our deciding factor. But would be interested in knowing what you all think? Remember mine is 1/4 cocker spaniel, 1/4 Golden Retriever and 1/2 mini poodle.

Well, I have one of each, Lucy, a woolly-coated labradoodle,  (and yes, she does get confused with a poodle by many people who pass by, even though she has a doodle cut) and Oscar, a wavy fleece-coated labradoodle. My observation of both coats at Oscar's current age (18 weeks) is that he sheds a whole lot more than Lucy did. Maybe that will change when he gets his adult coat, but for now I sure do find a lot of his long hairs around. Since your pick is from a litter with Cocker Spaniel in it, I doubt you'd have that problem with any of the coat choices. Oscar's coat is soft and easy to comb (and far easier to blow dry with a high velocity dryer) and Lucy's coat is rougher and more difficult to get a comb through. Lucy's coat looked much like the pup on the left in your pic at that age. If you don't like woolly poodle coats, then you should opt for a smoother coated puppy (remember, even the puppies' smooth coats will get curlier/wavier as they mature). The little guy on the left is very cute, btw.

I happen to like both looks, obviously :)
