Ha, ha, I think that is a good question. I don't have an answer unfortunately. Finnley is almost 11 months, and she has her zoomie moments, but she also likes to snuggle too. Maybe it just depends on the dog. I wish she WOULD mellow out when it comes to hole digging, and tree de-barking ! Good luck, hope someone has an answer for you :)

I noticed that both my two older doodles started to be calmer after the age of 2years. Now At ages 5 & 3, they still can have their zoomey moments but for the most part all that puppy-youth-energy has tamed down by alot!
Zhoé (my 15 week old) is a WHOLE other story!! WEW , puppyhood :-)

My two older doodles definitely calmed down after about a year and a half, but my youngest doodle (an ALD) is almost three years old and still crazy, crazy, crazy.  He jumps on anyone who expressed interest in him and loves to wrestle with my goldendoodle who is twice his size.  He can jump over the fence in the backyard and does so frequently.  But he jumps back also.  Fortunately, there is another perimeter fence around the property.  He is a challenge, but a sweetheart also.  So, yes, it does depend on the dog.

Libby calmed down around 18 mos. and now she is as mellow as they get.  She has her moments of excited play, zoomies, and takes a two and a half mile walk every day, but she is much happier just vegging out, cuddling or laying right by DD or her "mommy"!  She is a very good girl, we lucked out:)

Good Question...I have been wondering that myself...Rosie was 2 in January and tho she has calmed down a little but she still wears me out and she wants to be the boss....Rosie and I have had discussions about this....she always wins!!!!(:  I am thinking probably around 3 yrs old she will start to mellow more...lets see that would be 21 in dog years...Yup she is a teenager right now...YIKES!!!     All I can say is I wish I had her energy!!!

Rosco has always been relatively calm. Boca is almost 3 and no sign of calming down =)

cooper calmed down around age 2. she still  goes crazy when people visit, and will go go go till she drops if we go out hiking or to play balls. but shes just as content to hang out at home. shes still a pretty high energy dog compared to some..... but nothing like she used to be

I really think it depends on the dog....they're all different.  Guinness is four and pretty calm and Murphy at three is still full of energy.

I agree that it varies dog to dog! This is my first dog, and I got super lucky. She is seven months old, and as long as she gets her 30 min off leash walk/run she is well behaved. Any days that are more active, like when she spends the day at doggie daycare and she gets super wore out, she is a couch potato, and will sleep most of the next day too!

I should knock on wood though, because I keep reading about this dreaded adolescent stage that she's about to come into... Maybe she's saving up all her energy and terror for it....

Peri is almost 4 and our neighbor thought she was only 1 or 2 based on her energy level :)

This is such a funny question, because we are talking about doodles...they are just the happiest dogs in the world.  Mine are starting to calm down they will be 5 this year.  Not sure if it the age or the fact that our 17 year old golden died about a month ago.  They still have many moments when they chase each other around the house and around the pool.  Calmer but in a blink of an eye they could be jumping and wanting to play like they were still puppies.

Zoe has calmed down a lot lately and she is now 19 months.
