Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

After months of stalking this site, I finally took the plunge and joined because I'm going to be getting my first doodle. I am so excited, nervous and my emotions are all over the place. I'm not even sure if my puppy has even been born yet. I sent in my deposit to be put on the waiting list so it can be as soon as August or as late as October. I have been without a dog since October 2012 and I'm so scared to begin the whole process of training and adjusting to a new baby, yet at the same time cannot wait. I'm also a little worried that I'm going to compare my new puppy to my sweet girl Ginger who I lost in October. Thanks for letting me ramble, I feel comfortable doing it on this site because I know how all of you love your dogs and are not rolling your eyes like a lot of friends and family do when I get on my roll of missing my dog and waiting for my new one.

Thank you. I put in for a f1b medium goldendoodle.

I was in the same boat 3 years ago. You will have so much support here. I owned a dog all my life and I have learned so much from this community. Take it one day at a time and learn as much as you can before you even get your new baby home. I am sure you will be glad you took the plunge again. I know I am.

Welcome to DK. I'm sorry to hear about Ginger? We look forward to your new pup.

Hi Linda, welcome to Doodlekisses. Loving a new puppy is a wonderful way to honor the love you have for Ginger and it will also do wonders to help fill the hole that losing her has left in your heart.

Thank you for your kind words.

I am so sorry for your loss. Yes, we definitely all get it when it comes to the love we feel for our dogs and the tremendous loss it is when they leave us. What an exciting time. I love puppies and the new beginning they bring. Enjoy your new one when you get him/her. It in no way lessons the love you felt for Ginger.

I'm so sorry about your loss of Ginger. It's so hard...

I remember going through the excited, nervous, "what have I done???" feelings before Tara came home too. But they all disappeared when she arrived. You are going to make a fantastic doodle mommy and yes, you have our full support here on DK!

Welcome, Linda! I'm so sorry for your loss. Ginger was beautiful, and I know how much you miss her. I hope your new puppy will help fill that void in your heart.

Sorry about your loss....
We lost our maltese 3.5 yrs ago..they are always in our hearts & memories...but life is about memory building all thru out our lives. Once in awhile I call DerbyDoodle "Itsey" but personalities are so different you move on in the physical world
they are never forgotten & always remembered fondly It is an exciting time..ill never forget when the breeder called...I excitedly looked at my husband & said " we're having a girl"
And for just a moment I felt like a new, young mom to be!!

With a doodle it will be Love, love, love...
And to explain DK is impossible ...you will have so much support and wise advise you will wonder why every breed doesn't have the luxury of having these great people to help & support their owners....it's an amazing experience here!!
Good luck to you..

Welcome, Linda!

I missed the whole months of anticipation thing as I got Trav on the same day I found his breeder!  Pretty unlikely that anyone here would roll their eyes about your missing Ginger or impatiently waiting for that pup.  :)

I too found DK before Riley was even born and it has given me so much, friends, sound advice and above all a place where it is comfortable to vent and address issues that somehow seem out of whack with those who aren't doodle lovers.  You will be wonderfully well prepared when your puppy comes home. Good luck and a big welcome to DK.

That's so exciting...and welcome to DK.
