Keep him tethered to you using his leash or in his crate if you aren't playing with him! He needs to learn that it's not ok to chew things just because you're not watching.
You can also tie the cords up and attach them to the bottom of the desk so he can't get to them.
They sell foam tubes that are slit on one side (or you can get harder plastic ones), that cords can slip into to keep them all together--if he chewed on that, he would just damage the tube--which is much cheaper than the new cord! Pups do love those cords! The computer companies are making a bundle! I have mine wrapped in black electrical tape after a pup got to it--but it still works!
You might also try spraying some Bitter Apple or other deterrent on the cord. Is there a way that you can gate off the area around the computer?
Thank you, Rhonda. So glad you are just going to put them away. Dog's issues are strange and tough sometimes, but sometimes we just have to go with the flow instead of trying to figure out why.
Can you use a gate to keep him in the kitchen while you are gone? Cords are very attractive to a bored doodle and dangerous. I know of two dogs who electrocuted themselves. The results can be more serious than a $100 cord!
I think computer cables carry a lower voltage than regular electrical cables. (Thank goodness!) Make sure your lamp cords, etc. are protected as well because Jaxon is not going to be particular.
If it happens again go to Ebay and find cheaper ones. My husband just replaced one of ours for a Toshiba laptop and it was only $10. Works just fine!! It is an aftermarket OEM-compatible A/C adapter.
Sorry...he just corrected me...it was $23. Still better than $100!!
Why not just spray them with bitter apple??
