Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Some of you may remember that a dear friend of mine is raising an adorable labraddoodle pup that has megaesophagus and we now know that the poor pup needs thyroid meds as well. She and her hubby have spent countless hours and thousands of dollars seeing him thru his first three months of living with them. They are devoted to keeping him well, despite the frequently sleepless nights when he is vomiting and the need for constant monitoring to prevent aspiration pneumonia. Instead of putting him in a Bailey chair (to keep him upright after meals) they hold him in their arms for 30 minutes at a time after each meal...
I was at their house this morning giving his hair and nails a little trim--he is such a sweet little guy but it is obviously a very exhausting experience for both of them.
Can we send her a big hug on her DK page just to let her know that we are thinking of her and are supportive of her? She could use a bit of encouragement right now as she faces the reality of possibly losing him--at 6 months old, he weighs about 19 pounds despite being very leggy--he is gaining slowly, but at least it is going up...we all love him so much and are hoping for the best, but even the BEST possible outcome is going to be a challenge for all of them.
Thanks all!
Her DK name is Doris J Gearing--or you can respond here and I will tell her to take a look!

My dad has a rescue dog with megaesophagus and I know the challenges - thank you Doris for what you are doing for this special puppy!  Know that we are in your corner!!!

I so admire what you're doing....you really know what loving a dog is all about.  Sending hugs, prayers, and positive thoughts your way.

I think you and your husband are very special, Doris, to take such wonderful care of Beethoven. I am hoping he will live a long and healthy life despite his medical problem. I am certain he rewards each day in his unique dog way.
