I have three and all three are "velcro dogs"--they love to play together but they never take their eyes off of us and what we are doing--all three follow me from room to room--which sometimes slows me down quite a bit! Doodles are such people dogs that this would rarely be an issue--beagles are another story altogether as they were bred to be in a pack as hunting dogs.
Hi Jenn ~ We have two Australian labradoodles (Charlie is 2.5 yrs and Beau just 1 yr old). Initially, Charlie did not want to share all the attention he got, his toys or us! But in a very short time frame, he was taking Beau toys and initiating play. Charlie is a total people lover and, like you, I was worried that his personality might change on the second doodle's arrival, but it has not. He is still that same sweet soulful little boy that just loves people. But now he has a brother to play with too. They have bonded, but it is secondary to the bond each has to us. Looking forward to seeing photos of your new addition. I think you are going to love having two!
Congratulations and how exciting! Be sure to post pictures when your new Doodle joins the family! We have an "only child Doodle" so no advice from us:)
I have three and they all bonded to us. They are Velcro dogs. They all play with each other ,but always HAVE to be with us. They will do just fine.Sometimes it makes training a lot easier. They follow what each other does.......We have two females and a large male standard. Fun ,fun, fun!!!
My two tend to be more competitive with each other for our attentions. They are, of course, bonded to each other. We will always have two dogs because when they are raised with another dog, they have a hard time adjusting to being an "only dog". They are definitely company and comfort to each other.
The second doodle is good for everyone...the older one teaches the puppy & there is always a BFF ready to play. Our 1 year old competes for our attention...luckily, Baker is a gentle soul who puts up with him being a brat. It's lots of fun for all & there is always something to laugh at :)
Congratulations on your second doodle! I don't expect for you to have any problems whatsoever. I had EXACTLY your same concern because I loved Bexter so much and he was so attached to me. He followed me wherever I went. After getting Maggie that didn't change at all. He is lying right by my feet as I type this. Maggie is in the other room with my younger son. They do have fun together and are so cute together, but Bexter still follows me everywhere and Maggie follows somebody, but it doesn't necessarily have to be me. Doodles love each other, but are PEOPLE dogs!
