Ok please be forwared if you are very tender hearted you might not want to read ahead.
i stiill have yet to meet jake but have been talking with his current owner. He says Jake is sweet, playful and loves people and dogs. But he has an obsession with drinking water excessively. I asked about diabetes, renal kidney issues, etc. and his owner says tests were done showing clean results.

Now, I would probably want new tests but the owner also said that his vet thinks its psychogenic water consumption probably brought on by the fact that he is being left in his crate for so long. The owner admitted that he has left jake regularly in his crate up to 20 hrs because he is on the road for his job (omg!) and this sounds like it happens multiple times a week. The owner says he at times restricts jakes water so he can hold it that long in the crate. He's a 6 month old puppy! So when he gets out of his crate he drinks until he throws up. :(

I can't begin to tell you my emotions on this but I feel even stronger about saving this boy. I don't have the owners address but I will be meeting up with him tomorrow. At this point, I am taking Jake.

Please don't bash me as I am trying to get to this dog ASAP. I have no idea whether he has medical issues causing the water intake but from the sounds of it, this doodle has a right to feel like it needs to gulp all the water and food it can, when it can. I am so sad and mad right now.

Any advice would be appreciated but please again, don't bash me. I honestly don't think going in guns blazing is going to help get this dog out of there. And I know what a terrible situation.

Thanks for any support.

What a horror! 20 hours in a crate often. Poor puppy. What possesses people. I wonder if you can get Pet Insurance? But bless you for rescuing this poor baby.

NOTHING to bash!! You are doing a wonderful thing for Jake!! I do suggest pet insurance asap just in case. But it sounds like he drinks so much because he doesn't know when he will get another one.

Can't wait to get updates!!!!!

Bash you, never, I'd kiss your feet for saving this baby. The stupidity and inhumaneness of people never ceases to amaze me. I can't wait for this baby to be safe in your arms.

Goodness, why would we bash you? Somebody needs to get that puppy out of there ASAP. A 6 mo old kept in a crate for 20 hours on a regular basis? WTD is wrong with people????

I was worried you would bash me because I'm not tell the guy to give me the dog right this minute. I feel like I need to tread carefully.
Ok what tests would you all have run on him and can I even get pet insurance for a dog I don't even have yet? How does one to about pet insurances.
Ah so stressful as my daughter is in a riding competition with her horse this weekend. It always happens at once.
Thanks for the help.

You are Jake's savior...get him as fast as you can!!!!!!!!!  Don't show your emotions to the guy.....just get Jake out!

I am holding my breath until I hear you have him in your possession!

My heart just breaks for this little guy. Hoping and praying Jake takes you on as his Guardian Angel. Kudos to you for being there for him!

You are doing an amazing thing just getting him out of that horrible situation however you can!

Thank you so much for all that you are doing for Jake! Both my doodles are rehomes. I was able to contact the pet insurance company (at the time it was PetPlan) and arranged to have the coverage begin on the date I had actual custody of my dog. I have since changed to Embrace insurance, which requires a two week waiting period for medical and up to six months for orthopedic issues. I believe you can shorten the orthopedic waiting period by obtaining a satisfactory ortho exam from your vet, though. I think what you're doing for Jake is wonderful and, while I can certainly understand your position of needing to go slowly and tread carefully, I hope that Jake finds himself home with you sooner rather than later.

Bash you.....I want to kiss you for rescuing this poor dog. I hope someone puts his owner in a crate for 20 hours. Please keep us updated.

I can't wait till we hear that you have Jake safely in your home! No bashing here! You are a doodle hero! I just can't bear to think about what this poor baby has been through. I hope all the vet tests check out and you can get the old vet records so you have some health history, but it does sound like this poor baby just acted out of survival and drank when given the opportunity. He will learn to trust that water is always available with time. Wishing you the very best with helping him. I'll bet watching for your update.

That man should be charged with animal abuse! How horrible!

Grab him and run!!
