Have any of y'all had to have your doodles puppy teeth pulled? Finn's top fang puppy teeth never fell out and his adult teeth came in next to them. My vet is telling me I need to have these pulled because otherwise it will throw off his bite and bacteria will get in between the puppy and adult tooth and cause abscesses (because they are so close together). I've done research online that confirms this. I've been putting this off but he's eight months now and these two puppy teeth are not even slightly loose. I'm worried about him being able to eat afterwords and him being in pain. If any of y'all have had to do this will you let me know what the recovery is like? Thanks so much!

Daphne's teeth were the same way. We had the vet pull them out when she got spayed because she was already under anesthesia. I don't think it was really all that traumatic for her because she had the more serious problem to deal with at the time. The spaying and the stitches. She was able to eat her kibble just fine. She did have pain meds due to being spayed. I am sure they will give him some as well. They gave me her teeth in a little container. Let me tell you, those things are really long! At least an inch & 1/2 including the tooth and the root. Almost looks as if they weren't ever supposed to come out. Sorry, I'm not much help in your situation, quite honestly, I never really paid attention to the tooth issue since we were so concerned with keeping her calm. Good Luck! I'm sure he will get thru it just fine!

Oscar had both his upper baby canines removed at (if memory seves) 10 weeks old. He was in a lot of pain before the surgery, due to one of them chipping. He had base narrow canines, so those baby teeth needed to come out anyway. He was perfectly fine afterward. I think he had some pain meds for that first day home, but honestly, he wasn't anywhere close to the pain pre surgery. I think I may have moistened his kibble the first couple days, but otherwise he was right as rain. Good luck, I'm sure Finn will do great.
Thanks guys, I really appreciate you sharing your experiences! I'm hoping all goes easy and well and that he doesn't hurt too bad! He's picky enough about his food....if I have to give him soft food I don't think he will ever eat kibble again! Ha!
Bogey had same problem and vet extracted them when he was neutered. I don't think Bogey even knew they were gone. He came home from surgery and tooth extraction just fine.

Pippa had to have hers removed also. Our vet called us on the day of her spay to say he thought they should be pulled and he would do it while she was already under. They didn't even seem to bother her after. We had a lot bigger issues with her spay site and fluid collection under it from not keeping her calm. Finn should be ok!

Any update on how this went?  We are in same boat with our puppy...
