Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
We had the bad news over Thanksgiving that Groucho Too has cancer of the liver. He had a cancerous cyst on his spleen that burst so they did a spleenectomy and had the spleen biopsied. It was cancer. They also saw nodes on his liver during the surgery. So....what to do? He has the stitches out tomorrow, so we have decided to tell the vet we want plenty of pain medication for him when he starts to be bad and we have decided to have him put down at home. There is a traveling vet who will come to the home to do this. There is also a pet crematorium in our little town who pick up corpses and take them for cremation. We will have him put down at home, cremated, and the ashes buried at home. We have even picked the area for his final resting spot. We are ready to lay our beautiful goldendoodle to rest.

Wishing peace and comfort for all as you pass through this terrible time Lynda. May Groucho Too enjoy as many pancakes as possible in his time left with you. (hugs)
A peaceful death is one of the last things we can do for our beloved pets. I am sorry for what you are going through.
I'm so sorry to hear this! Groucho Too has known nothing but love throughout his life, and what could be better than to end life with his beloved people, without pain or stress? You are a good dog mom, Lynda.
Oh, I am so sorry to hear the news about Groucho. This is so very hard but you seemed to have planned well. Hugs to both of you.
Lynda, I'm very sorry about Groucho, I'm thinking of all of you during this time.
I, too thought of similar thoughts when Butter was getting really old and having significant difficulty. I thought having a fare well at home would be much comforting for him....Still, it is hard to make plans like this.. My thought goes out to you.....
I'm so sorry you're going through this. At least he will be home with you guys when the time comes.
My heart is breaking for you and your family. We had our lab put to sleep with all of us gathered around him, holding her. It was more sudden, she broke her leg and we discovered it was full of bone cancer. Since she could not walk, she would get frantic and well, it was the best for her and the hardest for us. We fed her a great big roast beef! I still cry when I think of her. Her ashes are in our breakfront. My son has not been able to bear burying them. We have a stone that I ordered with her name. It gave me great peace to pick out that stone and write the short poem and I see it everyday. Your plan will comfort you just as the rituals we have for people help comfort.
But for now, I hope your sweet boy has good days ahead, even if it is not as long as you would wish, so you can continue to add even more sweet memories.
