I don't know why I'm angsting over this, but I am. Lupin is now 24" at the withers, 53lbs, and too squirrely for me to measure her length. Her crate is 36L x 22W x 24H. Do you think I should get her the next size up....42 x 28 x 31? She sleeps in her crate at night but doesn't spend more than a couple hours in it during the day. At night she will go in on her own and curl up. I can't decide if her current crate is great and I'm anthropomorphizing and therefore wanting a larger crate or if she really does need a bigger one.
I'll take any and all opinions! :-) Thanks!

Seems to me that if the kennel is only 24" high and Lupin is 24" at the shoulder then she must be a bit cramped. I always thought the dog should be able to stand comfortably and turn around easily in the crate. I guess I would go to the next size up. She is a cutie!
I'd go the next size up. Lupin is about the same size as Zoe and we have something similar to 42 x28 x31. Especially if she's potty trained (which is the rationale for a crate they can only stand up and turn around in, so they won't do their business in the place they sleep). We actually bought this large-sized crate for Zoe when she was about 3 months - it had an adjustable screen we could move as she grew, but it was always much taller than her until now. I just didn't want to have to buy 2 crates, one when she was small, then one when she was full size, so she's always had a larger than needed crate.
What a cutie pie!
I agree, go the next size up. Lupin is the same size as Lucy and she wouldn't even be able to stand in that size crate without bending her neck and being cramped. Lupin will be a lot more comfortable in the 42" long, 31" high crate.
Thanks so much everyone! Ordering her a bigger crate tonight!
