Yep, it’s me—Chance.

Yesterday a big box arrived in the mail from Lonnie and Libby.  My human mom let me help unpack the box, and it was full of so many wonderful surprises. Lonnie and Libby know how to select and wrap perfect presents!

For me, there were new toys, and do I ever enjoy new toys.  But I like treats even better, and the box had cheese treats for me as well as yummy things for mom.

Everything was going smoothly until we came to the HDA medal.  Mom thought it was meant for her, and I thought it was for me.

Mom said she got the medal because she spends so much time on Doodle Kisses.  She loves the photography group in particular, and I can testify that I am a frequent victim of that passion.  She takes pictures every day, and when we are walking outside she makes me hold still until she composes her shot. Gheez, the outdoor world has bunnies and birds, flowers and grass, and mom wants me to hold still—very, very still-- while she fiddles with her camera.  Sigh.

But back to the HDA medal.  What I tried to explain to mom is that she only joined Doodle Kisses after she got me, and that without me she would not be a Hopeless Doodle Addict.  I’m a fairly smart doodle, and felt that I had nailed the ownership question with my argument.

Mom gave me “the” look that says, “Funny boy” and handed me a cheese treat as she pulled out the medal. Although I saw right away that the medal would not be nearly as fun to play with as my new toys, I pretended to pout a bit anyway.  Maybe, I thought, she will give me another cheese treat to make me feel better.

Instead, mom announced that we would share, hung the medal around my neck, and began taking photographs. So mom!

Her photos didn’t come out great (she kept grumbling that the light was wrong and I failed to hold very, very still) but both of us felt good about our HDA afternoon together.  Thanks, DK for bringing so many doodles and their humans together for fun, learning, support, and friendship.

Love, Chance

P.S.  Mom says that soon we need to send the HDA medal on to some other addict.  Just so that you know, I licked the medal a few times and mom is clueless when it comes to present wrapping.  I hope you will forgive her because even though I sometimes complain about her we really do love each other.

Chance, you are so adorable! You look sooo good in that medal, and you should tell your mom that the photos are perfect! Congratulations to both of you - enjoy the treats!

Thanks, Camilla.  He is so small that I had to loop the medal ribbon several times to keep it from hitting the floor.

Wow, Congratulations DJ and Chance. The medal looks great as do the pictures, but DJ you are conspicuously absent and I know you can set the timer. :>)

LOL, Chance is prettier than I am :)
