Hi, new here and expecting our first Doodle by summer!

Hi All,

I have visited this site many times in the past (when researching Doodles) and have finally joined since we will actually HAVE a Doodle by this summer =) 

We are a busy family of five (three boys) who lost our second Sheltie this past Thanksgiving (our other Sheltie passed in 2010).  Growing up, I had many dogs (Great Dane/Lab mix, Border Collies (favorite!), Shelties), all of which shed quite a bit.  I am very much looking to enjoy the perk of a Doodle coat, but BEST of all, I am excited to experience their loving personality and to have a "young and healthy" dog again.  We have experienced taking care of senior dogs so much lately, that "young" will be refreshing. 

My goal is to train our pup to be a therapy dog who will aid children's reading programs -- I may even get to lead a program in our local schools.  I ran agility with my Sheltie, so I would consider that with the Doodle too, especially if my boys would like to participate!
