Hi,
Cooper will be 5 months old this week, and I came home to a big scare today.
He has a bit of anxiety and broke some of his baby teeth off from chewing at his cage(we no longer put him in the cage).
We have been keeping him in an empty spare bedroom.
After walking him when I got home today I noticed blood all around his mouth so I checked his teeth out.
What I found was very disturbing. It looks as though his gums a cut open with blood Around few teeth. I also noticed something that looks like a major issue- it seems like one of his canines is coming in wrong and maybe broke at the tip. Pictures posted of each side right side looks concerning.

Please help if you have had any experience with this? Am I freaking out or is this normal?

Thanks everybody. The vet said his adult teeth are coming through correctly. The long tooth that appears to be coming out sideways is his puppy tooth being pushed out. It's very loose so they said let it come out on its own. He is scheduled to be neutered next week and if the teeth are still there, they will remove them while he's down for the neutering surgery.
They also put him on an antibiotic in case any infection and an anti inflammatory.

That's good news! Glad to hear everything is as it should be!

Thanks!

Great news!  Thanks for the update!

Great news!

Glad to hear it is nothing serious. Make sure to put him on a probiotic or give him plain non fat yogurt! Make sure either is given at least two hours apart from the antibiotic.
What is the probiotic or yogurt for? They only said to give it to him with food..

The antibiotic, while doing a great job at fighting bad bacteria, also kills off the good bacterial/gut flora in the intestines, causing an imbalance in the system, resulting in diarrhea. The probiotic/yogurt helps to replenish the good bacteria in the gut. After Oscar's latest round of antibiotics for a UTI, I'm still working on getting his poos back to where there they were before. It can take quite a while. The food your vet advised you to give with the antibiotics should be Cooper's regular food. Probiotics should be given at least 2 hrs either before or after the antibiotic so they don't interfere with each other.

What I give Oscar is 2 tablespoons of plain, non fat yogurt twice a day, as well as some probiotic powder sprinkled on his food.

Just to be clear, the type of antibiotic Oscar was prescribed was given between meals (it wasn't necessary to give it with food), so I gave/give the yogurt/probiotic with his regular food.

Good point!

That is so good to hear and so glad you took him in. It would be terrible for a little infection to grow and cause all sorts of problems.
Yes, I was thinking it was his adult tooth coming in sideways plus he had broken it. Luckily I was wrong! I didn't realize how long the teeth were.
