Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi all. I know I mentioned that my mom is considering getting a dog in the non-doodle forum. Thank you so much for all the advice. I've had my mom read all of your comments. We've talked a lot and have decided on a plan. My mom has decided to put a deposit down on a breeding from the same person I got brisby and pickles from. I really like the temperaments her dogs have and I know the dad of who she will be using and the mom is related to the mom of Pickles. My breeder will be having a litter of small medium doodles in the fall ready for homes after the holiday. So this gives my mom plenty of time to really think about it and work with my dogs. If she decides she just doesn't or can't do it, she loses her deposits. I think she is pretty committed to her plan. We've talked about small rescues vs new puppy and since she has been around brisby and pickles as pups I think she has seen at least some of the good, bad and ugly. She really likes their temperaments. Now we work on getting her use to dog life with extended play dates at her house, one dog at a time. It also gets her time to puppy proof her house and yard. That's the update so far. I'll let you know how things are going as we move forward.
Also, she's listening to me about picking temperament above color or gender. She did say however if it was a boy she might name it after J.D. Robb's Irish thief turned good guy. :). (Mom loves to read).

Great plan! Look forward to updates.

The waiting would be torture for me, but you guys are doing this wisely.  It is very well thought out and your Mom will be more than prepared when the time comes.  Good luck and keep us posted!

Sounds like a great plan!  Let us know how everything goes!

Thought I would just add this photo.  The little dog on the bed is our little rescue and the black dog on my leg is a rescue that we are fostering right now.  A rehome or rescue might be a good choice for her also.  Both dogs are about 25 pounds and a year old.

I love it when getting a puppy is a well thought out process. Its a big committment as you know. Good job

Excellent planning--nice that you can help with the new dog.
