Do your doodles lick?

Do any of your doodles lick you? I've heard all kinds of reasons why dogs lick: the salt in humans skin, they are submissive to you, they are trying to put their scent on you, etc. I don't know which is true or if there is a specific reason. I'm really not sure why some dogs lick and why some dogs don't. Jake does not lick humans really at all. He will smell you but not lick. Brisby will just lay next to me and lick and lick until I tell him to stop. Pickles is somewhere in between but probably leans more toward minimal licking. Do any of your doodles lick? What causes some to be "lickers"?

Finn only licks me if something tastes good. There is a cucumber lotion I use sometimes though which he loves.  Really, cucumber??? He doesn't seem to care for any other lotion.  

He does love to give kisses to the kids in his reading class though.  Sometimes this is a way a dog gets information and it seemed to be Finn's way to learn more about these little people.  He would sniff their cheeks, their hair... and then, give them a gentle "kiss."  Now it seems to be more a gesture of play, submission, or affection between them.

Lily licks my husbands face any chance she gets, but rarely licks me. That's probably because I don't like it and taught her the command, "can I have a little kiss?" And she will just lick me once or twice. The only other people she licks are people who hate it, go figure LOL

Both of mine are big lickers when they are greeting us. It always starts on the face and then an arm or leg if they can't reach your face. Jilly has been known to clear your nasal passages if you're not wise to her! Jack will send air licks if Jilly is in his way. Jack is a lotion lover too!

Yogi licks me occasionally, esp when I am brushing him, but not very much.

DH is another story. Yogi licks him like crazy; arms, legs, feet, etc.
Not just a few licks either, he'd probably go on for 20 minutes easily.
At first I wondered if it was because he is diabetic, but lately I've noticed
he tends to lick me more after I've been working outside in the heat, so I
am wondering if it is the salt.

Jazzy  will lick my face and ears like crazy when she first gets up, then at other time just until she decides to bite on me, lol. Have to say I like the licking better-bathing in bitter apple.

My Oliver licks everything!  He licks people, floors, chairs, carpets, beds, feet (actually feels good..lol).  He is 3 and started doing this within the past year and we have no idea why or what prompted this strange behavior.  What we do know is that he has had issues with acid reflux which we believe was from an irritated esophagus.  Not sure if the licking is related but he has also had a gulping problem.  I have seen Youtube videos of other dogs with licking and gulping issues.  We have had xrays and an ultrasound done of his esophagus and belly but really have no specific diagnosis which would explain the licking or the gulping.  We changed his food to Wellness Limited Ingredient  Salmon and Potatoe (another members advice) and we have to add water, let it absorb until it is soft and then feed.  No more gulping issues but the licking still continues.

Kona loves to lick, all over your body and faces.  She will lick other people too in greeting.  Buddy licks family, and mostly me, but he only wants to get you on the lips.  If I ask him to go give daddy a kiss, he will :)

If I ask Myla for a kiss, she licks my lips but if DH asks for a kiss, she licks his ears!  Never his lips!  Have no idea why!

One out of four at my house lick. Shea has always been a licker since he was a baby.He even licks the leather couch. I don't know what that means.I thought it was a nervous habit . any ideas ?

I have 3 labradoodles, 2 lick (anybody!), but we have one that will stick her nose in our faces, sniff (what did you have for dinner?, where's mine?) but rarely, if ever licks.
