Lucky didn't shed much at all when we got him at 8 weeks old. The breeder said he'd be a nonshedder (but we know that doesn't truly exist). Now he is shedding like crazy. Is this a time of year thing? Or did we just get a more heavily shedding dog than expected?

He's a great dog regardless. Just wondering. :)

My Rosie is 8 months and unfortunately sheds much more than we thought she would. I'm still hoping it stops!

My son's doodle didn't shed until he was almost a year old.  We thought we had a non-shedding doodle, but, nope, he sheds lots now and it doesn't look like it will stop. Sigh!

Neither Lucy nor Oscar shed much the first 6 mos. or so, but it's quite noticeable now, especially after baths. It's funny, I never find hair on my dark clothes, but find doodle hair, 'dust bunnies' in the outer edges of rooms and under furniture (with hardwood floors they're easy to spot).
Not sure if I can be any help...I'm still a GoldenDoodle mom-to-be. But from what I have gathered, even some that are non or low-shedders did shed their puppy coat for several months until their adult coat came in. Could that maybe be what you're seeing? Just trying to learn what to expect myself :)

Hmm, maybe?  I'm not sure.  His fur is curlier on his legs and chest.  It's very fine and fluffy and less curly on his back, sides, tummy, and tail.  I'm wondering if the "finer" stuff is "puppy fur", like you suggest.  Kind of like how human babies often start off with very fine hair?  Or maybe I'm just stuck with a shedder.  :)  I'll keep you updated.

I'm trying to think but I think Loki started losing his puppy coat just before he turned six months old so it's possible it could be that. I've also heard that puppies don't shed at all until around four months so maybe he will just be a shedder? Who knows with a doodle!
My puppy was shedding from the minute we got him. He's 4 months old now. He has this wispy top coat that sheds like crazy, but underneath that, is a tightly curled coat. We're thinking that he's shedding his puppy coat. We hope that once with puppy coat is gone, that we are done with shedding. Puppy hair is everywhere. I have to vacuum often. What's worse is that I tend to wear a lot of black. I am constantly covered in fur. Uggghhhhhh!!!!!
Yeah, Lucky's coat is curly in places, but the rest is wispy, like you said. Hopefully it's puppy coat!

Buh Bye Black!  That is what I had to do. :-}

Haha! That was one reason why I was leaning towards a darker doodle just I case they did shed then my clothes would still be safe!

Then, Buh Bye white!  :-}  My dogs are light colored.  You were very smart to get a darker dog if you often wear darker clothes.  My daughter has a black lab and whenever he has been over, we have black hairs everywhere.  Hopefully your pup will not shed as badly as her dog.

Haha! That was kind of my thought process way back when I started making a list of likes and dislikes in a dog I looked at my closet and figured if my doodle did shed it would be much easier to limit the white I wear than the black I wear. Thankfully he hardly sheds but with puppy number two on the way we will see what we get!
