Completely besides myself..... Need similar stories and prayers please

My new puppy has been home for five days and it has been an E motional ride. He went to his first vet appointment on Saturday, which revealed he was under nourished. Vet was concerned, He weighed in at 4.2 and he wanted to recheck his weight again today. He is not a great eater..... 1/4 C per feeding if I'm lucky. Karen has been a God sent with her support. His stools are pretty normal, a little on the soft side and very frequent but no diarrhea. He sleeps all day. Plays for 10-15 minutes and is out for hours. He sleeps all night....does not whimper in the morning to get out of crate.... I have to wake him up when I get up at 7:30. Went back to vet today. He's up to 4.13 lbs but vet is very concerned with his lethargy. Says puppies sleep a lot but this is excessive. He slept through 1.5 hour vet visit, nail clipping and all. Woke up for fecal and straight back to sleep. Vet wants him back in the AM before feeding for blood pre and post meal. Wants a cbc and to check for a liver shunt. Breeder says I can take him back and get me money back. How would I do that? He's already part of my family. I'm completely besides myself fecal on Saturday and today were normal. . Praying that tests are Normal and that he starts to perk up. Has anyone experienced this? Please say prayers for my cooper.

It sounds like good news that he was outside playing.  My vet was concerned that FInn seemed underweight at his first check-up.  He seemed ok to me when brought him home but looked pretty scrawny 2 days later when we went to the vet. He wasn't a good eater and slept a lot at first.  Hoping this is the same with Cooper. BTW, it turned out Finn had tapeworm which they missed at first. Not sure where he got that!  But all turned out well.  Keeping you both in our thoughts and prayers.

My vet was perfectly fine with their weights. They had short spurts of energy with hard play but they did sleep a lot as puppies. I fed orijen.

How much did his parents weigh?

What's the adult weight of his parents? If he's a true mini his weight is normal. My Nimbus was 4 or 4.5 lbs at 8 weeks and Sierra was only 3.5 lbs. My vet was perfectly fine with that. Sierra did have coccidia, but it was treated with antibiotics. Best of luck with your little guy!

Ok thank you. Dad is a 30 lb poodle mom is a 35 pound golden doodle.

That's a bit more than my guys' parents. Nimbus ' dad was 17 lbs and his mom 25. He weighs between 23 and 24 lbs at 2 years. Sierra's mom was 20 lbs and her dad 30 lbs. She's almost a year and weighs 17 to 18 lbs. She's definitely going to stay smaller even though her parents are both bigger than his.
So I guess you'll just have to wait and see where your little guy ends up. I hope that there are no health conditions with him. I know how much you love them right away.
