Has this question come up yet? While reading the bed discussion, it made me think of Riley's bad habit. She waits until we are ready to sleep and starts chomping on her nails. Thankfully she is in her bed but it is so gross to hear. Crunch..crunch..crunch... The silver lining is that we don't have to clip nails much. :-/

LOL Nancy, well you know Tara has had a crush on Ned since they first "met"!  Wait until I tell her he is a genius on top of being one hot lookin' dood!

That is pretty clever, Ned! I would have loved to see him at work!
I thought Gavin would grow out of his puppy dreams but every night and sometimes during the day about 15 minutes after he goes to sleep he whines and moans and yips and woofs and thrashes about on his bed. I wonder what he dreams about?
Every now and then Riley will whimper when sleeping. Because our dreams are influenced by our experiences, fears, etc I'm curious what would upset them. Maybe a stranger is coming to the door in their dreams or maybe a squirrel is teasing them out the window?

My friend's poodles chew their nails! Maybe a poodle thing??

One of my dogs breathes loudly when she wants some of my food--like a wheeze--never does it any other time. Another one rubs her ears and groans while we eat dinner EVERY NIGHT---right under the table...very noisy....my third doodle, Rio is an angel and I can not think of any weird habits but does have to follow me everywhere--not weird, but it is a habit!

These weird habits are fun to read about!!

Both my doodles are nail biters!  I'm glad to read there are others that do it, because I thought these two were freaks.  Beasley is one to do it right when I'm going to sleep, too - just last night, I had to tell her to stop the chomping.

Eloise will groan or sigh in utter disgust or annoyance, depending on the situation - like when I tell her not to do something, or I don't do something she wants me to do, or I otherwise bother her.  It's kind of hilarious!  She also likes to position her hiney right in front of me for a "butt scratch" - when she wants her back scratched right above her tail.

Beasley has to violently flop around on the bed every morning.  She'll lay quietly until I wake up, but as soon as she knows I'm "awake for the day" she starts happily wagging her tail, then rubbing her face on the duvet cover like she's wiping her mouth (ugh!), and then she ends it with the violent flopping, where she'll throw herself down right next to me, still rubbing her face on the bed and rolling around on the bed, over and over.  I think my girls have lots of weird habits!

Doesn't the groaning sound like a kid complaining? So funny...and so human! Gotta love morning rituals. I am not a morning person but I can't help but get moving on the days that Riley decides she wants to play. That just got up messed up hair and happy face is too hard to resist. :-)

It does sound just like a kid complaining!  Beasley does it some, too - but not like Ellie, who is so amazingly human-like (Beasley, not so much lol).  And I'm the same - not a morning person, but Beasley greets every day with such enthusiasm...she helps me start my day more quickly. :)

Mine chews on her nails, too. I've always wondered why.

Gracie will go to bed with us and in the middle of the night she either growls or gives a muffled bark. We ask her if she wants to go to her room and she jumps of the bed to go to her crate. We think she gets too hot on the bed because we throw the covers off and they go on her. Lol

Barkley who is a schnoodle has a lot of odd habits. He constancy licks when we are sleeping. We just tell him to stop and he does. When I'm doing laundry, I put the clothes in sorted piles on the floor. As soon as I leave the room he rolls in the clothes. Once he came out with my bra wrapped around him. Another time he came out with my son's undies around his head. He also jumps up on our bed as soon as we leave the room, rolls around on it, and scoots my husband's pillow on to the floor. Oh and he loves to rub in my hair! Like if I'm at his level, he will rub in my hair.

Jade hasn't formed any weird habits yet. ;) I'm sure they will come as she's only 11 weeks.
Funny that Gracie asks permission to go to her crate. Hopefully Barkley doesn't run outside in your clothes. Now that could be embarrassing. :-)
I never thought of it as asking for permission. That's funny since when we ask her to go to her room she needs bribed with a PB filled Kong!
