Normal, totally completely normal - Use the crate, use a long rope "umbilical" to tie the puppy to you or near you, have puppy toys everywhere there are children toys, give up guilt ( really useless feeling for good people)
Establish a routine for the puppy that fits into your routine for the children. Enjoy, really soak up the joy of the good times when everything is going smoothly. Do less everything else and more children and puppy time, it will ease your tummy and your mind and fill you with love and joy which will get you through the times you want to curl up in a corner and cry.
You are raising two children. Now you have added a puppy. Yes it is hard. It will get easier. then it will get hard again. Then it will be easier. One day sometime towards late afternoon you will wonder why you feel so strange. Then you will realize you are not tired!! You will be fine, honestly.
Thanks so much!! Great advice! Its funny how im used to kids/babies no problem but a pup and im like WHATTTT lol
Love all these positive messages!! cuddles are making it better! I guess its the fact that a lot is "serious" time due to the training.
Jess ~ you are getting some great feedback from many members here that have had similar feelings. If I was your age, I am pretty sure I would be having the same feelings as you are. I will be looking for updates and I would bet that by the time your pup is one year old - it will be just like one of the kids! Enjoy each and every day, before you know it they are grown up.
Thank you so much! The feedback is great! Glad I have all you doodlers!
he is 10 weeks in this weekend! we start puppy training at a pet store this weekend! hoping earlier the better!
Thanks for the reply :) Theres Hope!
I remember feeling the same way. Big knot in my stomach as my landshark of a puppy that needed to be let out at all hours of the night had me sleep deprived. I also felt guilty because I sorta strong armed my husband into getting a dog (happy wife, happy life) and I was worried about how he was feeling. Things straightened out when he said "he's only a puppy, you have to relax!" So I did and things got way better. He is now 6.5 years old and we could not imagine life without him. Start your training early. The bond that develops through training makes the world of difference.
p.s. I am from Ontario too :)
lol so happy to hear all this! in a nice way! haha.... I sent this to my husband... hes like "strong armed eh" lol
I had to show him it wasn't just me! Where in Ontario are you????
Thanks for the message! it really helps!
