Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

It's been a week since we traveled to VA Tech to get a second opinion. We were there Monday through Wednesday last week and saw internists and pathologists. They did a whole series of blood work and a couple of ultrasounds and biopsies. On Wednesday, Cooper was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and an Auto Immune Disease. Unfortunately, this cancer is not treatable because it has spread to his stomach and maybe other organs too. We had a choice of doing a surgery on him or not. We chose not to put him through the surgery because the doctors were sure that if he survive the surgery, he won't have a quality of life.  So we came home heartbroken.

We are going to say goodbye to our sweet boy Cooper tomorrow evening at home.  Please pray for my whole family that we will have the strength in our hearts to go through this end of life process with Cooper and find peace and comfort with what is left with us.

Paulette, I am so sorry. I pray you and your family will soon be able to find joy in the memories of what a wonderful dog Cooper was. It is so hard.

I am so sorry for your loss! I know how hard it is to loose a member of your family. Cooper had a wonderful life with you and your family. You showed him so much love all the way to the end. When my golden got cancer and we had to make that awful, heart wrenching decision to say goodbye, I thought I would never survive it. But, now looking back it was the best choice for her and to take her out of her pain. I will be praying for your family in your grief! Cooper will always be in your heart!!

I am so sorry, tears are pooling in my eyes for you, but thank you for caring so much for Cooper that you know he needs to cross the rainbow bridge.  Cooper took a  piece of your heart with him, but he left a piece of his heart in your hearts.

Hugs, tears, for you and wishing you smiles as time passes and you remember him.

Paulette my heart goes out to you. You and family are in my prayer! Hug!!

The Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies
that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm
and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health
and vigour; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again,
just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and
looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs
carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your
special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.

The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head,
and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your
life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together

Here's to Cooper a fine dog indeed.

I know how much your heart is breaking tonight.  Cooper is so lucky that he found someone to love him so much for his short time here and to ultimately put him before all else.  I truly believe that he knows what you are going through right now and I hope  that very soon his memory will bring a smile to your heart!  I am thinking of you and sending a lot of hugs!

My heart is breaking for you and your family, you are in my thoughts and prayers. My daughter went through this 2 years ago with her cat. He was 16 years old with several health issues and declining, and she said that having the vet come to her home where kitty was happy and comfortable, was the best thing she ever did.

I am so sorry Paulette, please let the good memories flood over you.

I am so sad for you and your family. Praying for you during this difficult time.

I'm so sorry.   Sending prayers and hugs.

I'm very sorry Paulette....my thoughts and prayers are with you.

So sorry to hear.  I'd make the same decision too.  Such a short time with you but tons of great memories.  Warm hugs.
