Whiskey is killing toys at an alarming rate. Toys that once lasted months ,now the new ones last 15 minutes. A “super durable” duck just lasted 25.

Tennis is balls get the fuzz torn off.

He is 10 months old and 60 lbs.

I am sure this is normal but I need suggestions for what to give him that isn’t simply throwing money away.

All help is appreciated.

Roo was a super chewer too.  The only things I found that really lasted were zogoflex toys and Antlerz.  Either are available from multiple suppliers on the internet and in large pet stores.   I also bought just regular stuffed animals from a thrift store.  They did not last and he could only have them while closely supervised, but they were cheap.

I sympathize with you !   Roo did eventually grow out of it and would settle for killing the squeaker and then Tigger could enjoy the toy for awhile without destroying it.

I've got 3 chewers and the only toys we have in our house are Kongs and the below.....

When Myla was younger she loved the West Paw Tizzi Dog Toy  https://www.westpaw.com/dog-toys/play/tizzi-dog-toy - we would put a treat in the hole and twist the legs together and it took her a long time to get it.  She also liked the JW Hol-ee ball https://www.amazon.com/JW-Hol-ee-Roller-Original-Dispensing/dp/B000... - which we would insert squeakers from previously destroyed toys.  Myla has always been an aggressive chewer so we don't give her bones or antlers as there is always blood and I'm afraid that she will break her teeth.  Now that she's older, we can give her any toy (other than stuffies) and she is gentle with them.  She loves the "Chuck-It" balls the best.

Thanks for reminding me about Westpaw!  Their chew toys are dishwasher safe and indestructible!

Tennis balls aren't good for them anyway. They fall apart easily and the fuzz is harsh on their teeth.   Kong products are usually really durable.  I like their squeezee (with squeaker) ball.  If it does break it is 2 big sections that they can't swallow.

Chuckit balls, kong (the black one), antlers and femur bones.  Anything else my girls can destroy.

I will second antlers!  Luna had a HARD bite when she was chewing and antlers were the only thing that stood up to her chewing.  She never really liked rubber toys like kongs and balls, she preferred the super hard antlers.

Hello,

I have found the best toys for the strong jaws of a doodle.  I have a 7 yr. old Australian Labradoodle and what I found to be indestructive and durable are called ZOGOFLEX by westpawdesign.com.  I found multiple different toys at my local dog stores/boutiques.  Petsmart and Petco do no sell them.  You can always order from the website I typed if your local dog store doesn't have them.

Good Luck,

Doodlemom

I like the zogoflex toys too. There's one that is S shaped that we particularly like. Maggie's foster moms gave her a big west paw design ball to take home with her. She likes it, but it is really heavy and if you aren't a precision ball thrower you have to be careful. I could hurt somebody with that thing.

I use Nylabones that are shaped like wishbones--they last forever--and big shank bones that have been totally cleaned of meat, etc---I get them at a store called Tractor supply--my dogs are not super strong chewers but destroy stuffed toys in  minutes. My son once got them each a nice toy for Christmas ( he is grown up and not living here, so did not realize that this was not a good idea!) Within 5 minutes, all three toys were ripped up!

Nylabones for strong chewers are a favorite at our house.  I have a doodle that MUST destroy those vicious squeakers and destuff any toy - he is a master.  If we get a stuffie, we let him de-squeak it (takes seconds) and we toss the squeaker.  We let him destuff it and toss the stuffing or we purchase the already 'flat' toys (we still need to throw away squeakers).  We keep the flattened mess around until it is a true rag.  Toys that last longer - braids made of fleece  (you can make them yourself. knot an end, braid strips, knot the other end) or google braided fleece dog toy and you can find them to purchase. These last a very, long time because you can keep retying them.  We have purchased toys made out of firehoses - those last a bit longer but beware of fakes.  We also purchase some rubber toys. West Paw Zogoflex for example. Here are some examples of our  toys.

Nylabones and ZOGOflex are the only things that have lasted with my two chewers. They chew on rocks when they are bored and even break them into pieces.  Chewy.com sells both.  I love Chewy, just got a 44 lb bag of kibble and 3 bags of their treats delivered right to my door today!
