Does anyone else have a dog that seems to stay extra warm? The last couple days it was above zero here, and Toby acted like we were having a heat wave Panting, laying on the ceramic floor instead of the carpet, pushing his blanket back in his crate so he could sleep on the bare bottom of it. Weird. Of course, this same dog I could walk when it was -25 Celsius, and he showed no signs of being cold. Is it the curly fur, or are they just warm in general?

I think Clancy is very warm blooded. He pants all the time when it starts getting warmer. We are in Virginia, so it hasn't been REALLY cold here, but some nights into the teens and single digits. He loved that. The last couple of days, he has been back to panting a lot again.
I was just having the same thought myself yesterday. Our puppy is just over 5 months old and we live in Michigan. the last few days she has been panting and acting like it's the summer. She is desperate to be outside, and rolls in any remaining snow. She would be happy in snow all year round. Her coat is so thick, I'm thinking we may have to cut it back in the summer.
Our Holly (13-month F-1 Goldendoodle) detests the heat. Our Inland Southern California Climate can get quite hot so she enjoys our air conditioned home with tiled floors when it gets hot.

We are in the process of investigating a cooling jacket or coat for the hotter months but, have not as yet decided just which one we desire.

Our groomer keeps Holly's belly shaved and that seems to help keep her cool.

Holly sleeps with us but, hops off the bed several times a night to keep cool by laying on the tile floor. Luckily, both Judy and I are not greatly disturbed by her getting up and down.

Another piece of the "Keep Holly Cool Puzzle" would be some sort of foot cover when the ground is hot. Dogs absorb a lot of heat through their feet and can be cooled down by keeping the feet moist and cool. Unfortunately the only foot gear we have found for dogs is meant or heavy snow, not for Summer heat. If anyone has any experience with appropriate foot coverings, we'd love to learn of it.
Willson has been loving it outside also he can play for awhile in the house then has to go out on the deck to cool off, he could sit their for hours if I let him . It does seem like he does pant too now and when it was very cold he would not, but like you i could walk him if it was -25 but I was too cold to take him out.
