Beck is 5 mths old and neutered. He loves water so we bought him a child's plastic wading pool. Every morning I empty it out and refill it with fresh water and as soon as I fill it and start to walk away he jumps in and pees in it. If I empty it and refill it again, he will jump in it and pee in it again even if he can only manage to get a drop in it that seems to satisfy him..I'm completely baffled

Wow, that is hilarious, although I'm sure that is not the reaction your were hoping for. I can't say that Duff does that; however, I've only filled his new pool once, so I'll be sure to look for signs.
Dogs are funny, Ozzy's new habit is to go into the water and poop. Started that with the Jersey doodles, I am not going into the Ocean to try and find it either. He is telling you "my pool" I bet, it is one way to keep you out LOL

It's working then, I have no desire to share his wading pool with him
I agree, that is funny! My cousin had a couple of boxers. She lives in Florida and we would take the dogs to the beach
with us. They loved the water. They also had to poop in it. I'm not kidding, everytime we took them to the ocean they had to run to the shoreline and poo in the water. It didn't matter if they had just gone before we went to the beach. I wish I had a picture of my face when they did that. I remember saying "MAKE THEM STOP". I learned after that to pretend I didn't know them until they finished their business....my cousin included! We are going to get a wading pool for our doodles. I can't wait!!!! If they feel the need to eliminate in the water I'll let you know!!
Maybe it's kinda like little kids....they get in the water.....and all of the sudden they have to goooooooooo!
Beck obviously thinks it is his toilet! LOL
Better than the result I got....I bought one for Beau at Petsmart last year, and he runs in the other direction every time I bring it out. At least yours is getting some use!
I have never seen a pup peeing in a pool until tonight at the dog park. I am thrilled that Samantha doesn't like to go in it!!

I did witness Ozzy pooping in the ocean and he isn't the only doodle I have seen doing it - another Jersey Group Doodle, who shall remain nameless, & a Doodle at the Dewey Beach Romp, not sure where they live. The Jersey Doodles poop in the ocean because the beach they can play on during 'the season' offers poop bags but no trash can on the beach and they don't want DM to have to carry the bag back off the beach. Aren't they thoughtful?? heheheheh
Hi Lynne, Mandy visited a doodle last week and she squated in the pool and peed. That was her first time in the water, so am not sure why she did it. The other doodle was in it and Mandy didn't go back in, makes me wonder why.......LOL
I think I found out why he might be doing this. They have the exact same wading pool at the doggie day care he goes to, and one of the people who work there said that dogs pee in it all the time to claim it for themselves, I'm just hoping they don't drink out of it after they all 'claim it' yuck
I just bought Mandy a little wading pool, she just stood in it. I hope she will get used to it and play in it. I hope Beck doesn't drink the water!!!!!!
