In one week we will pick up our second golden doodle. Our first girl is 10 months old and named Daisy. We have been trying to come up with a flower name for the new girl too. This is what we've narrowed it down to: Iris, Maggie (short for magnolia) and Sugar or sugarbush. Yes, sugarbush is a real shrub that blooms with clusters of white flowers. Before Daisy came home we were leaning toward Lily for her.....but after we spent a weekend with her it was clear she was "Daisy".
So who do you think this looks like ?...........Iris, Lily, Maggie, Sugar....? or ??????????
Daffodil: The sun is bright when I am with you, Respect, Sunshine, Unrequited love, Regard
Ivy(Sprig of white tendrils): Affection, Anxious to please I think that Ivy represent very well a little bunch of love as a Goldendoodle. She will always want your affection and be anxious to please you and your wife... Ivy is always "glue" to the wall or trellis!
From the names you suggested, I think she definitely looks like a maggie. But here are some other suggestions that I don't think have been posted yet; Cammy-Camelia///Carnie-carnation///Daffy///Daffodil///Ivy (I love this one) or Zinnie for Zinnia.. Are you getting a head ache yet!! Too many choices always give me anxiety. Le t us know which one you choose. Daffy and Daisy would be cute-but I like Ivy best.and I see from a previous post it means "affection-anxious to please" What more could you want from a dog??
I suggested Daffy after my wife proposed Maggie---short for magnolia. She shot it down immediately.
She wouldn't let me name any of our kids Murray either. I thought Murray Drury had a nice ring to it. (kidding)
Ivy keeps creeping back onto the short list. Olive comes and goes too.
I had an English Springer Spaniel for 15 years named Lily so I am truly partial to Lily. However I really like Iris and Maggie too. I think Iris is the most flower-like name and would compliment Daisy really well. Be sure to post your final choice.
I also like Poppy and Blossom.
We struggled with this problem too when we got our second dood. I wish there was a generic name like Bubba or Sue that everyone named their dogs for about 3 months. Then once their personality really shows you could pick "the perfect name". We have a female that we named Murphy. I wanted to stay with the Irish theme when we got our male. I must have changed his name 4 times in the first 2 weeks - Guiness (sounded like a frat house after a while), Paddington (too hard to roll off the tounge 2:00 in the morning when you're trying to get him back in the house from peeing). We ended up with Jaxon - not very Irish.
Now he's 7 months old and Murphy is 19 months old. If I had it do over again, knowing their personalities I would have gone with Gidget (for our gold female - she's such a surfer/party girl) and Moondoggy (for our black male - he's laid back and a little clueless).
All this to say choose carefully! Bottom line: they're great dogs no matter what we call them!
I like Daffy or Zinnie. Love is more like it. We have a male pup "Motta" after a city i lived in in Sicily IT. He is only 9 weeks old but I know I want a female too. Zinnia is so cute... I just might steal it :) Zinnie.. too cute! Unless of course I come up with another city/location I love or another M name!
