I know there are tons of Les Poochs brush conversations floating around on here.....but I have a specific question that I haven't seen. I have 2 doodles....one has a really woolly (sheeplike) coat and the other one has a more fleece-like, softer coat. I can only splurge on one brush....so, the green handle one is considered "medium" and the purple handled one is considered "firm". Would it be better to use the medium brush on the woolly coat or the firm brush on the fleece coat....because I think the reality is that I need two brushes, lol. Would the firm one hurt Fenway when I brush him, because it would be too firm or would the green one not do a good enough job on Shiloh because of his very thick woolly coat?
I think I would ask Kemp, too. But if I had to decide on my own, I think I'd probably get the Les Poochs brush that's most suited for whichever coat is more difficult to brush through. Then, at least you've spent your money on the more difficult brushing job. If that brush won't work on the easier coat, you can probably find a less expensive brush that will work on the easier coat.
Thank you for asking this question. I long ago asked if the Les Pooches brushes were any "different" than the look- alike brushes available at
PetEdge for around $10.00 each. No one ever answered for me to be able to compare. I still use my inexpensive brush and am still curious. Can't wait for an answer to this one. They offer both medium and firm and my groomer recommended the brushes from PetEdge. I would really like to
know if Les Pooches brushes are truly that much better.
Thank you for your response. I have read what I thought were most of the comments re L. P. brushes and must have missed your comparison. I really appreciate finally knowing the difference. Are the tips of the
Les Pooches rounded? I agree, the PE brush seems a bit scratchy so I use it very gently. I do have rounded tips on other brushes for Mitzi and really wanted to know why the LP brushes are so very highly recommended.
My wool doodles have from very thick to average coats, but the individual hairs are fine. My fleece coats are thick and each hair is very slightly thicker. My yellow brush works miracles on both of them. Between my yellow Les Poochs brush and a comb, I can comb out any matte that isn't the consistency of felt.
