I noticed Debbie Chisolms little guy looks like he started out apricot and is now a white dog. My lovely apricot Kaela (who is almost orange she is so apricot) has all white white fur underneath, like if I were to shave her short she would be snow white. I believe she will, infact, grow up to be a white or cream dog.
Remington was much darker when he was a pup than he is now... we shaved him for the summer and thought he would turn white, but he didn't... you'll just have to see :)
Fozzy looked just like Kaela does. He was very light underneath. He still has apricot ears, but he has what I call a "fade". He is blond/cream on the paws and belly and fades into a light apricot on his spine and the back of the head. Not what I expected.
I think this is how Peri will look. Ears are darker apricot, light apricot on spine, and creamish coming through the puppy hair everywhere else. Great with me because Fozzy's a doll!
Steve wasn't apricot as a puppy was but definitely a darker blond. He is pretty much pure white as an adult with some random red hairs interpersed here and there.
Gracie is not white now but I guess a cream. When she was young it was like you described with white underneath. You can see that in the pic I attached., Gracie is the one on the right with the "frosted" face.
We have a doodle that made that change - oh did he change! I was seriously worried for awhile. But he "doodled" out in the end. He still has a little apricot tinge here and there.
Wow! Yes I think this is what Kaela will do. Her hair has gotten so long lately (a hair growth spurt LOL) and the top half of each strand is apricot but the bottom half to the skin is snow white. I love both colors. I just never new that this was a common phenomenon with this color.
Hi everyone- the pictures I posted of Thomas definitely make him look white but he is actually a nice golden colour with a lot of apricot red spots. His ears stayed apricot and he has spots of this same colour thruout his coat mixed with what I would call blond hair-and the blending of these two colours gives his hair a golden blond cast. Women would pay hundreds of dollars for highlights like these. He also has the LONGEST eyelashes I have ever seen and they are also apricot in colour. We picked the fat little puppy because he was darker apricot-well obviously that has faded to the new golden/blond colour that he has become with dark apricot ears. The top of his head is actually quite whitish blond. I guess what I am saying is Kaela could turn out to be apricot with some highlights of blond which would be very fashionable!! Whatever she turns out to be- she will be beautiful!
