When my husband and I leave Bailey and Murphy home alone, my husband insits that we must leave the TV on. He also chooses the Animal Channel because he believes that they like that channel!!!! LOL Does anyone else leave the TV on for your Doodles when they are home alone? If so, do you choose a specific channel?
It must be Animal Planet. Sometimes my BF will try to change the TV to the Hunting channel right before we leave b/c he thinks it is less "sissy". I always change it back!
We will leave the TV on when we leave Holly and her Maltese friends in our motorhome when we are on vacation. We do this more to mask outside noises than to entertain the dogs. They seem less apt to bark at folks walking by the motorhome when the TV is on.
We select a calm and non-excitable channel like The DIY Channel. We also hope by doing this that our dogs will learn to do some simple home maintenance someday. We don't expect them to do any complicated repairs though. That would be asking too much.
We leave the T.V. on also. While we do not have the Animal or NG channels, I do consider what will be on while I am gone. LOL Yes, I look ahead and try to make it a pleasant television show. For example, if I am gone in the moring, I don't want to have the news on, but I will put on Sesame Street. Truth. Something nice. :)
Yes we leave the tv on. We started to leave the tv on so Mariner would have a point of reference so he could better navigate the house. As a puppy Mariner was blind, so having a constant sound from a known spot helped him figure out where he was. Although this is not as important, we still tend to leave the tv on when we are not home. Mariner now can see, although we do not know exactly how well.
We do, and have always done it...I always think they feel better hearing people talking then the silence of an empty house...Both my guys are crated, and they both seem to like it on when we are out...I don't usually put on animal plantet though, and I have heard my husband telling them to watch the "game" and tell me about it when I get back, lol...

I always leave the radio tuned to NPR...want my dog to be well informed and she is used to hearing it in the car. Of course, when I turn the radio on in the house, she knows that I am leaving.
No, never thought about it since I don't have the TV on that much when I'm home. But if something like Animal Planet were on it would drive Luca crazy. He always barks at animals on TV, sometimes at animated figures too! Both my dogs have barked at dogs on a calendar page. My son insists they can't see in 2D but he's clearly wrong.
We don't generally leave the TV on unless our dogs have been particularly naughty. Our old dogs (10 & 15) know all the tricks and will go prowling for food, trash, and other "treasures" if they think they are home alone. Occasionally I leave the TV on so they think they are not alone.
On a side note, we had a border collie mix rescue that we fostered for 1 yr. She would actually sit and watch Animal Planet and loved the dog agility shows. She would sit in front of the tv with her head turning from side to side as the dogs ran through the course. If a dog turned a corner and went off screen, she would run around the side of the tv looking for the dog. It was so much fun watching her watch tv!
No we don't do that but Neelys favorite comercial comes on and he watches it. It is a little dog running circles around a greatbig hound dog and they are pitching dog food for different breeds. The little dog pesters the big dog until finally the big dog does this huge howling bark and stops the little dog cold.
One night I was online watching a doodle kisses video of a red puppy "talking" it was about 2:30 am or so and I started playing it and Neely was sleeping in the living room. He got up and came into our room and jumped into bed to watch the lap top. By this time he had woken up my husband so I hit replay and Neely laid his head down on the key board and watched intently while the video played then hoped down and laid down beside the bed.
I figured the red puppy (can't remember his name) must have had something really interesting to tell him anyhow.
