Does your doodle love HIS bed...recommendations?

We've been thinking of getting Chewie a dog bed and am wondering if anyone has bought one they highly recommend...or one they definitely would advise against. Reasons either way.

Hello!! I had this problem with Molly, We bought her and out two labs last year those nice fluffy pillow beds and it took Molly about an hour to destuff every one. It looked like it snowed in our backyard. So I got the idea to make her one and see how that worked,,so far so good, it;s been a year and she hasn't chewed it yet, I've washed it at least 20 times and it still is like new. When we go for rides in the car I just put it on the back seat, and no matter where we put it in the house she goes right to it to lay down. I just started making them in different colors and am putting them in a few vets offices and pet grooming places, I have a lady that sews the dogs name on them. I just put a couple pics up on my page the other day if you'd like to see one...

I have tried a few beds thus far for Phoebe (she ate two already) but we--she and I, that is--LOVE a super size bed from Costco of all places. It is rectangular with cedar chips as the filler. The zippered covered washes beautifully and the entire bed has retained its shape perfectly even after lots of 'digging' to get comfortable and the children running over it (despite my pleas not to!). It gets our vote plus it was very inexpensive but looks beautiful.

Samson sleeps in a pet play pen that he loves. He goes in it at night, I zip it up and it is in our bedroom next to our bed on my side. It is really the greatest thing! He has a safe place to sleep, he is with us and he doesn't bother us! let me see if I can put up a link:

That's it I think. I got a medium and Samson is 55 pounds now and he fits. It unzips on one side and he walks in and I zip it up.

Odie our last dog, slept in a huge cardboard box from a refrigerator that I cut down to about this play pens size. He slept in that for years until I changed to the bottom part of an outdoor dog house. I put a pillow in it and Odie slept in that the rest of his life. I feel they need somewhere enclosed and safe to sleep in, but near you.

I would suggest you start with something inexpensive (like those costco ones) to make sure Chewie even likes it! Peri hates beds. It is so funny - maybe that will change as she ages, but for now, it is either the hardwood floor, marble by the fireplace or her crate! She won't sleep anywhere else! I spent too much on a bed from Foster & Smith and it is unused. Taquito, on the other hand, has the same bed in a smaller size and loves it!

I had an old bean bag that I made years ago and when Luah was a puppy she and I would cuddle together on this old bean bag... I began a game of hiding her toy under the bean bag when she was very young and to this day she not only loves that bean bag to sleep on but she plays her own game of hide the toy under it. She will put the toy on top and then grab the end of the bag and pull it over on top of the toy. Then she digs her way under it and retrieves the toy. I keep patching the old thing because she loves it so much! I think with any bed its important to be able to take the cover off of it and wash it occasionally!

Our first doodle destroyed two beds - he chewed them up when he was in a temper - so he didn't have a bed after that until he was a year old! He now has a foam bed that is about six inches thick with a couple of blankets over the top, we got it from Petsmart. I like the beds that Ruffwear make, but it is hard to get hem here in Canada.

I have heard really good things about the Kuranda beds and they are supposed to be indestructable! If your dog manages to destroy it, they will replace it for free!!

Has anyone tried The Rogz for Dogs beds. I saw them and they seem really strong and good for chewers. Neely has chewed two up. But our older dog really needs one as her joints just are too sore and she can't get up on the couch any more. But I don't want to buy another one Neely can chew on. It seems to be the fleece he was attracted to. He has grown up since then hes9 mths now so may be able to restrain himself a bit better too.

Tori went through 3 beds so far. Even one that was supposed to be indestructible! She digs at them, and then starts to chew it apart. Our last bed was from Costco -cheap - plush, big, comfy! It has many holes in it now that my SON actually keeps sewing. She has gotten better with it, but I do still put it away when no one is home. She still prefers the couch tho'. And NOW she has a new trick - she actually jumps from the couch onto her bed! I can't believe how human-like these doodles can be! I'm trying to catch her leaps on film, but can't yet. - SOON! I think I'm going to set up a doggy-cam -lol I'd LOVE to see just what she does when we're all not around!

How about a Lazy Boy recliner? LOL Hunter has taken over my husbands - perfect size for a doodle to curl up in and the big cushy arms are perfect for resting their cute heads :-) Oh and the beautiful, orthopedic, personalized bed I spend $149 from Orvis is sitting in the corner collecting dust!!
