- About Me:
- I live in sunny Nevada, with my husband Jeff and Labradoodle Mickey. We walk every day and play in the hot afternoons in the pool. He is weighing in around 72 pounds these days. About 25 more pounds of love than we had expected, but what a great treasure he is!
I grew up with dogs but knew travel was in my blood so I spent my first 43 years of my life single. I then married a wonderful man with two children, 16 and 19 when we met. They are now 29 & 31. We discussed having a dog for a long time and then finally decided to get one, after 7-8 months of research for the perfect dog for us before settling on a labradoodle. We went to a few breeders and found Mickey. He was just adorable! With his green eyes and apricot coat, we knew that he belonged in our family.
He was born on October 17, 2008. He is as sweet and loving as any dog. He is so smart so we put him through training, then agility class because he loves going down the slides and through tunnels! He loved it! He is too big for the teeter totter now, but the rest he just loves! He had also gone through Intermediate training and just got his CGC certificate.
He loves to play with dogs and kids of all sizes! We have a grandson as of September, 2008 and we have brought him around babies and small children of all ages right from the beginning. Mickey and Ethan have so much fun playing together! His 120# Great Dane girlfriend, Bella and he play almost every day. They're an amazing 200# of dog joy!

- Labradoodle - Mickey Mantle (Jeff is from the Bronx)
Dad was a black standard poodle: Jo Jo's Lucky Black Jack
Grandpa was a white standard poodle: Budley Do Right
Grandma was a yellow lab: Button
Mom a labradoodle, of course: Buttercup
- Where did you get your doodle(s)?
- Breeder
- Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
- Temperament, good with kids, other dogs, loves water, play fetch, intelligent, friendly and no shedding! My husband wanted a lab and I heard so many people that were frustrated with how much they shed. I wanted a dog that wasn't going to shed a lot and when we chose Mickey with his straight-ish hair, I knew there was a chance he'd shed. He doesn't though.
- What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
- We walk, play, run, go down slides, through tunnels, play in the pool and the parks.
Smile! :) From him following me everywhere to his delight when he has learned something new, to the way he contorts his body every which way and one can wonder how he thinks that it's comfortable. To his smile and the look he gets when he's about to catch a ball or Frisbee, the stance and the way he moves his feet, focuses his eyes and crouches when we say, "Ready"!?!?
To the way his tail goes up in the air and waves like a royal wave and he prances down the street...and just seeing which toy he pulls out of his toy box is always a surprise!
What a total bundle of joy he is!!

- We do a bit and mostly send him to The Pink Poodle
- Favorite Doodle Products?
- Chuck-it. And then there is his toy of choice more often than not....a plain ole' green tennis ball! He also has a big stuffed ball that we can throw around in the house.

Thanks Sandi! Wow, it has been so long, we were just talking about you and Mickey just last weekend at the park. Hope you all are well, big Annual Romp at Dog Fanciers Saturday if you can make it.... Starts at 10am.

Hi Sandy,
I do not recall a Sandy doodle in our group. But you know there are a lot of doodles out there from your breeder, I bet he/she is probably related in some way :)
It has been a fun early summer, now unfortunately it is HOT. Renee and I were talking about maybe doing an easy hike up at Mt Charleston on Sunday. Once she confirms I will post, would love to have you all join us if you are free.
