About Me:
It's been a tough few weeks. Due to some unforeseen emergencies, I had to cancel the adoption of the puppy. I was 'prepared'......everything was 'ready'....and her toy box was full. At the time I placed the order, I had more than enough money, but things happened that sapped those resources. Then, my Jerry, our Tonkinese cat needed emergency dental surgery to live. Due to his kidney problem, he's now on thrice weekly fluid injections....another $2000. With tears rolling down my face, I sent the email I never thought I'd have to send. It hurts like crazy, but the good news is that the dental surgery has given my Jerry, age 19, a new lease on life. He has more energy than he's had in years. To think the vets hadn't wanted to do it because it might kill him......then it came to the point where there was no choice. No more bad breath, no more constant upper respiratory issues....SOMEday, I will have my doodle!
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
My two boys, Jerry and Billy, are said to be more "doglike' than catlike. They are sweet, never scratch and love to have their bellies rubbed. I hope to learn here and by reading and further educating myself as to how to introduce a labradoodle to my boys without traumatizing any of the three....cats or dog.
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Breeder
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
I like the doodle temperament and the fact that so many are companion dogs. I'd love to train with my future doodle to be a visitor to nursing homes, schools, etc.
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
I hope to get lots of exercise with my future doodle and brighten up the lives of those who perhaps can't get out much. In my teaching career, I have had the privilege of working with children with Autism from time to time and I recently read that Labradoodles and Goldendoodles have been companion dogs to such children. I'd like to work with my doodle in this manner.

Doodles at School

Posted on October 29, 2009 at 4:14pm 6 Comments

Well, at the tender age of 60, I'll be completing my California Teaching Credential and my M.Ed. Finally! What I want to know is this: Does anyone know of teachers who take their dog(s) to school with them as therapy dogs? I know of several private schools who allow this but so far have not heard of this happening in a public school. Please let me know what you might know about this.

Clothing for Doodles

I'm guilty of gazing at the dog clothing when I go to WalMart and PetSmart and thinking how "cute" they'd look......oh WAIT! I'm getting a DOODLE, not a chihuahua!!! Can you see a dress on a standard doodle?! Yikes! Okay, I bought her a t-shirt that says "Kiss Me, I'm Housebroken". Likely I will put it on her long enough to take her photo and then relieve her of the burden. Buttttttttttttttttttt, I still look at the cute dresses, and the t-shirts. But I'm adopting a doodle, so the most I will… Continue

I would love to hear how welcoming a doodle into your life has positively impacted your exercise regimen. I am walking daily and doing some light stretching, for instance, so that I can be ready to meet my soon-to-be-born doodle's exercise needs. How has having a doodle helped you? What do you do exercise-wise that you didn't do before? Let's help one another! ;)
Hugs, Kathy

How are you doing? Are you back to getting plenty of sub jobs? There is a shortage in our district right now because so many of the released teachers they had on the sub list, have moved on.
